    摘要: A centrifugal air cleaning system broadly comprises an insert cartridge including a housing, an inlet, one or more flow guides, a stator, a compression nozzle, an expansion nozzle, and an outlet. The flow guides guide air flowing into the inlet past the stator into the compression nozzle. The stator induces a rotational vortex into the air flow. Air with heavier particles in the air flow is urged to the outside of the rotational vortex. Air with lighter particles and cleaner air is urged to the inside of the rotational vortex. The compression nozzle and the expansion nozzle are aligned to cooperatively form an annular exhaust channel. The air with the heavier particles flows through the annular exhaust channel and the air with the lighter particles and the cleaner air flows to the expansion nozzle to the outlet.

    摘要: A fluid separator includes a casing and a tubular main body disposed in the casing and having a central axis, inlet and outlet ends spaced along the axis, inner and outer circumferential surfaces; and drain passage(s) extending radially between the inner and outer surfaces. A collection chamber is defined between the outer surface and the casing and the inner surface defines a central flow passage, such that liquid contacting the inner surface flows through the drain passage(s) and into the collection chamber. A deflector disposed within the flow passage includes a hub located on the central axis with a bore and a plurality of vanes extending radially between the hub and the main body inner surface. Each vane has a first channeling surface facing toward the body inlet and a second channeling surface facing away from the inlet. Recirculation members fluidly connect the collection chamber with the hub bore.

    摘要: An apparatus for controlling the flow of a first fluid stream within a bulk rotating fluid stream is disclosed, the apparatus comprising a fluid flow region having a longitudinal axis, within which a rotating flow of fluid may be established; a flow guide having a convex outer surface disposed centrally within the fluid flow region, the convex outer surface of the flow guide extending parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fluid flow region, the convex surface being shaped to induce a spiral coanda effect in the flow of the first fluid stream over the flow guide. The apparatus may be used in the separation of a multiphase fluid and preferably comprises a vessel comprising a separation region; an inlet for the multiphase fluid stream; means for imparting a rotational flow to the fluid stream such that the fluid stream flows in a downstream helical path within the vessel; a conduit extending within the vessel having an opening in the end portion thereof to provide an outlet for a fluid fraction from the separation region of the vessel; a flow guide on the distal end of the conduit, the flow guide having a lateral dimension greater than that of the conduit and a convex outer surface to induce a spiral coanda effect in a flow of fluid over the flow guide, thereby directing the fluid into the opening in the conduit. A method for separating a multiphase fluid stream is also provided.

    摘要: A variety of improved hydroclone based fluid filtering systems are described. The hydroclones generally include a tank having an internal chamber and a filter (preferably a surface filter) that is positioned within the internal chamber. The filter defines a filtered fluid chamber within the internal chamber of the tank. The hydroclone may be operated such that a vortex of flowing fluid is formed between the chamber wall and the filter with the filter being located in the center of the vortex. With this arrangement, the filter acts as a cross-flow filter. In one aspect of the invention, the filter is a stepped filter. In another aspect of the invention, the filter is an surface filter, as for example, an electroformed metal surface filter. In some preferred embodiments, the openings in the filter are arranged as slots that extend substantially vertically so that they are oriented substantially perpendicular to the flow path of fluid flowing in the adjacent portion of the vortex. In another aspect of the invention, a circulating cleaning assembly is provided in the hydroclone region. The cleaning assembly is arranged to help clean the filter and is driven by the vortex of flowing fluid formed in the hydroclone region of the internal chamber. In yet another aspect of the invention, improved hydroclone intake structures are described. The described hydroclones may be used to filter water and other fluids in a wide variety of applications.
