Abstract:
Elements with heads confronting each other are blanked out of two opposite sides of an elongated metal sheet. The differences between thicknesses of the elements at a measurement point at or near necks of the elements and measurement points at ears of the elements are averaged, and a distance between corners of the metal sheet and a counter load of counter punches are established in order to keep the averages in an allowable range. When elements are blanked out of the metal sheet with the distance and the counter load thus established, even if the metal sheet is laterally displaced out of position, a belt assembly made up of the elements blanked out of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet and mixed at a ratio of about 1 to 1 poses no problems because variations in the thicknesses of the elements blanked out of one of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet and variations in the thicknesses of the elements blanked out of the other of the two opposite sides of the metal sheet cancel each other.
Abstract:
A laminated ring is manufactured by severing a cylindrical drum, which comprises a sheet of maraging steel with welded opposite ends, into a plurality of rings of predetermined width, rolling the rings to a predetermined target circumferential length, correcting circumferential lengths of the rings, aging and nitriding the rings, and laminating the rings into a laminated ring for transmitting power in a continuously variable transmission. A load applied to a circumferential edge of each of the rolled rings and a load applied to another circumferential edge thereof are measured while supporting an inner circumferential surface of the ring and applying a tensile load in a direction to expand the ring. The difference between circumferential lengths of the circumferential edges of the ring is detected based on the difference between the loads applied to the circumferential edges when the difference between the loads is maximum.
Abstract:
A method of fabricating a circular-shaped metal structure, includes the steps of (a) rotating a pipe around an axis thereof, the pipe being composed of a plastic-workable metal, and (b) applying drawing to an outer wall of the pipe with the pipe being kept rotated, to reduce a wall thickness of the pipe and lengthen a wall of the pipe. A resultant circular-shaped metal structure fabricated by the method could have a thickness equal to or smaller than 0.09 mm.
Abstract:
Metallic tape is butt spliced, i.e. without overlapping the tape, by measuring a fine strip of silver solder into a gap between the cut edges of the lengths of tape being spliced in such a manner that the strip of solder extends over one of the lengths and under the other. The area being spliced is pressed between carbon electrodes and the silver solder is fused by the passage of resistance current.
Abstract:
An apparatus for making a link-type belt formed of a plurality of plate members by punching out planar plate members from a sheet metal, wherein each plate member has lateral portions projecting outwardly from two opposite sides of the plate member; prebending the free end of each lateral portion; bending each lateral portion into an orientation substantially perpendicular to the respective plate member; rolling-in each lateral portion for forming hinge eyes on each plate member; aligning the plate members with one another; and inserting a hinge bolt into aligned hinge eyes of adjoining plate members.
Abstract:
A method for producing a metal belt, in which the metal belt is ground at least on one side over essentially the entire surface. In a first step, a transverse curvature in the direction of the belt width is produced on the metal belt by straightening machining, wherein a first side of the metal belt is convexly shaped and a second side of the metal belt opposite the first side is at least planar or concave in shape, and in a second step, the course of the belt thickness in the direction of the belt width is changed to a uniform course of a value of the belt thickness.
Abstract:
An inclined surface corresponding portion (30′) of a metal element raw material (23′) and inclined surface forming portions (47b, 47c) of dies (47, 49) are parallel to each other and are in contact with each other without gap. Therefore, a press load required while forming a metal element (23) is suppressed to a minimum and durability of the dies (47, 49) is enhanced. In addition, recess portions (24a, 26a) are formed on both rear surfaces of an ear portion (26) and a body portion (24) of the metal element (23) through pressing by using the dies (47, 49). Therefore, the sizes of both the recess portions (24a, 26a) are adjusted to change radially inward/outward distributions of the press loads on the dies (47, 49), so that it is possible to prevent the dies from tilting and to reduce a difference in radially inward/outward plate thickness of the metal element (23).

The CVT ring member includes a chemical composition containing, by mass, C: 0.43 to 0.70%, Si: 2.50% or less, Mn: 1.00% or less, Cr: 1.50 to 4.00%, Mo: 0.50 to 3.00% and V: 1.00% or less while satisfying a relation of Formula 1: 159×C(%)+91×Si(%)+68×Cr(%)+198×Mo (%)+646≧1,000, and the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The ring member has a tensile strength of 1,700 MPa or more. The nitrided layer has a surface hardness of HV800 to HV950.
Abstract:
A manufacturing method includes, cutting out a plurality of rings, polishing the rings, adjusting the plurality of rings so that they exhibit circumferential lengths respectively predetermined for them, nitriding the plurality of rings, and assembling in order to layer the plurality of rings into a multi-layered ring; wherein after the rings are cut out from the pipe, each of them is polished one by one so that their order is not changed; in nitriding, they are subjected to a nitriding process in a state where they are set in a jig in order to keep their order; and in assembling, the rings are assembled so that rings that were parts originally adjacent to each other in a state of the pipe become layers that are adjacent to each other in the multi-layered ring.
Abstract:
A work-punching device and work-punching method capable of appropriately changing a counter load is provided. Also, a method for manufacturing an element for continuously variable transmission with simple process is provided. A counter load may be controlled by increasing and decreasing a pressure of a fluid, when punching an element 10 from a metal band plate 20 while applying a counter load by a counter punch 113.
