    摘要: The invention relates to a method and a device of detecting the presence of slag in a shroud (4) through which molten metal passes from a ladle (2) to a tundish (6). A transmitting coil (20) generates an electromagnetic field. An induced voltage generated at a receiving coil (24) is compared with a defined voltage range. If the induced voltage has a value outside the defined voltage range it is indicative of the presence of slag. The coils (20,24) are arranged in an unmovable manner in relation to the shroud. The invention also relates to a casting plant.

    摘要: In a continuous casting of steel slab, a molten steel is provided having an oxygen concentration of not more than 35 ppm and is supplied from a tundish into a continuous casting mold through a straight immersion nozzle having an open end at the forward end thereof, the mold consisting of a combination of a pair of narrow face mold walls and a pair of wide face mold walls. A traveling magnetic field generating device is disposed on a central area of the outer surface of the wide face mold walls. While the open forward end of the nozzle is positioned in the magnetic field region of the traveling magnetic field generating device, a traveling magnetic field which is perpendicular to the wide face mold walls and which is traveling upward is applied to a flow of the molten steel discharged from the nozzle, thereby controlling the flow. Preferably, an upper or lower static magnetic field generating device or both of them may be also used.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for the detection of slag co-flowing within a sam of molten steel being poured from metallurgical vessel, more particularly during continuous casting, makes it possible to detect even a small quantity of slag in the emerging flow of molten metal without requiring the removal of the shielding for the pouring stream, or without interfering with the pouring, by measuring changes in the electrical conductivity of the pouring system by means of electromagnetic fields. To this end, one or more transmitter coils and receiver coils are mounted fixedly around the pouring stream. The transmitter coils are fed with a current containing several frequencies, and the magnitude and phase position of the voltage induced in the receiver coils are evaluated frequency-selectively so as to increase the sensitivity, the measuring transducer being operated in a bridge circuit. The change in electrical conductivity of the pouring stream and, hence, the quantity of slag, are determined from the magnitude and phase position of the voltage induced in the measuring coils. Temperature-dependent errors are largely suppressed.
