摘要: A method and device for making integrally formed one-piece molded parts is provided, where the molded parts are to contain a void within their volume. An exemplary such molded part is an arc tube for a discharge lamp. A wax core is first molded onto a core pin wire in the shape of the desired void, the discharge chamber in the case of an arc tube. Then the part is molded over the wax core to provide an integrally formed one-piece part having the appropriately dimensioned void volume therein defined by the wax core. After the part has been hardened around the wax core, the core is removed by conventional means. The holes through the finished molded part left after the core pin wire is removed can be filled in, or in the case of an arc tube they are useful as passageways to accommodate electrodes therethrough.

摘要: A no-draft putter club head is formed using an investment casting process, wherein one or more critical surfaces of the club head—i.e., surfaces with contours that affect the visual appearance of the club head when viewed from above—are formed substantially parallel to the draw direction of the mold. The mold includes an internal cavity corresponding to a putter club head shape, wherein the cavity includes a set of surfaces substantially parallel to the draw direction of the mold. This set of surfaces may include, for example, a toe surface, a heel surface, a top rail surface, and/or a hosel surface. A wax material is suitably poured or injected into the mold cavity to form a wax replica of the putter club head shape. The wax replica is then removed from the mold cavity along a line parallel to the draw direction.

摘要: A die assembly for die casting a propeller structure, such as a wax propeller pattern. The pattern, which is identical in configuration to a cast metal propeller to be produced, includes a generally cylindrical hub having an outwardly flared end and a plurality of blades project outwardly from the hub. The die assembly includes a base plate and a lower core section extends upwardly from the base plate through an opening in a stripper plate, which is mounted for movement toward and away from the base plate. A plurality of die sections are mounted for generally radial sliding movement on the stripper plate from an outer open position to a closed position where they define a die cavity with the core section. The die assembly also includes an upper die unit that is mounted for vertical movement and has a cavity in its lower surface which receives the upper ends of the die sections when in the closed position. An upper core section is carried by the upper die unit and mates with the lower core section when the upper die unit is lowered into interlocking relation with the die sections. Liquid wax is introduced through an ingate to the die cavity to form the wax propeller pattern. A mechanism is provided to rotate the lower core section and the wax pattern after the die sections have been moved to the open position to move the blades of the pattern to facilitate axial removal of the pattern.

摘要: An electro-optic display system comprises a plurality of display elements each capable of producing an optical display signal in response to electrical operating energy, a separate channel to each of said display elements, each of said channels incorporating a photosensitive element for the purpose of opening the channel in which that photosensitive element is incorporated for a given period to enable electrical operating energy to be applied during the given period via that channel to an appropriate one of said display elements, a generator of electromagnetic radiation signals arranged to irradiate in response to electrical control signals selected ones of said photosensitive elements and a generator of electrical control signals arranged to feed electrical control signals to said generator of electromagnetic radiation signals. The display elements may be arranged in a straight line which may be one row or column of a matrix array of the elements. The photosensitive elements may be photoconductors or photovoltaic elements and they may be part of a single patch formed as an integrated structure with the display elements on a common substrate. The display elements may for example be electroluminescent elements or liquid crystal elements. The first mentioned generator may be a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting diodes.
