    摘要: A method of positioning a vehicle chassis of a stationary vehicle in approximate alignment with a predetermined datum is provided. The vehicle has an axle and a fluid suspension system. The fluid suspension system includes a control device, a pressurized fluid source and an exhaust passage. The pressurized fluid source and the exhaust passage are in fluid communication with the plurality of fluid suspension members through the control device. The vehicle also includes an electronic control unit operatively associated with the control device. The method including steps of providing an alignment sensor supported on the chassis for outputting a signal indicative of the orientation of the chassis to the electronic control unit and acquiring a signal output by the alignment sensor. Another step includes comparing the signal from the alignment sensor to alignment data stored in the electronic control unit. A further step includes selectively operating the control device to permit fluid communication between one or more of the fluid suspension members and one of the pressurized fluid source and the fluid exhaust until the signal from the alignment sensor approximately corresponds to the alignment data. A system for performing the method is also discussed.

    摘要: A pneumatic spring system is provided for a motor vehicle with a compressor unit, a storage unit, as well as on-off valves, via which the individual pneumatic springs of the individual wheels are supplied with compressed air. In the area between the compressor unit and the on-off valves, there is provided a vent line that empties out into the atmosphere and that can be locked or cleared by a locking valve. Provision is also made for measures with whose help the air mass flow, emerging via the cleared vent line during a certain time interval, can be limited with respect to an unlimited state in order to prevent any undesirable noise generation during the venting of the system. One measure connects in parallel to a separately lockable main vent line, a separately lockable high-pressure vent line whose clear through flow cross section is smaller than that of the main vent line. Alternatively, a choke element can be provided in the vent line. The through flow cross section of the vent line can be limited with the help of that choke element.

    摘要: An air suspension for a vehicle includes at least one air spring per wheel at at least one vehicle axle, one pump, at least one accumulator, and one circuit arrangement for connecting these units, the pressure side of the pump being connected to the accumulator or the air springs. To form a closed compressed-air system, the intake side of the pump is connected via at least one valve to the accumulator or the air springs, and at least the air-guiding interior pump chambers between the intake side and the pressure side of the pump have a pressure-tight design. The air suspension system requires comparably low energy consumption and small unit volume at a high level of efficiency.

The spring rate and dampening coefficients (Ks, Bs) are selected to provide forces (F) which are a sum of several components, which include a desired target static force (Fd) for balancing various forces acting upon a vehicle chassis, comparison of the target strut force (Fd) to the actual force (F) applied by the respective struts (28), comparison of velocity ({dot over (z)}5) of the chassis relative to a selected reference datum, and a ride height error (erh). Frequency dependant filtering decreases the spring rate coefficients (Ks) when changes in position (Zs) are detected at frequencies (&ohgr;) beneath a threshold level (&ohgr;K), and decreases the dampening coefficients (Bs) when changes in velocity ({dot over (z)}s) are detected at frequencies (&ohgr;) above a threshold level (&ohgr;B).

    摘要: The invention relates to a level control arrangement for a vehicle having air springs (8) via which the chassis of the vehicle is suspended relative to at least one vehicle axle. A pneumatically-controllable directional-control valve (18) is arranged between the compressor (4) and the air dryer (6) and the directional-control valve (18) has two control inputs (20 and 22). In the base state of the level control arrangement, the compressor (4) is connected via the pneumatically-controllable directional-control valve (18) to the air dryer (6). When the control line (26) of the first control input (20) is connected via a controllable directional-control valve (30) to the atmosphere, the pneumatically-controllable directional-control valve 18 transfers into the other switching state and the air spring (8) can be vented via the air dryer (6). The pneumatically-controllable directional-control valve (18) permits large flow cross sections to be switched so that the air dryer (6) can be rapidly vented when venting the air spring (8) and a regeneration of the air dryer (6) is then possible in an especially advantageous manner.

    摘要: A mechanical bypass for a shock assembly is disclosed herein. The assembly has a damper chamber having a compression portion and a rebound portion. There is further an external reservoir in fluid communication with the rebound portion of the damper chamber via a flow path. A valve is coupled with the flow path, the valve to meter a flow of the working fluid through the flow path. A bypass port to the external reservoir is provided in the flow path and bypasses the valve. A mechanical relief valve is provided in the bypass port to block a fluid flow though the bypass port until a blow-off pressure that is higher than a normal operating pressure and less than a burst pressure of the damping chamber is provided thereon.
