A sheet supplying device for an imaging apparatus is provided with a sheet tray configured to mount a plurality of sheets in a stacked state. The sheet tray is inclined such that leading ends of the plurality of sheets are lower than trailing ends thereof. Further provided is a feed roller that faces an uppermost sheet of the plurality of sheets mounted on the sheet tray to be press-contacted thereto. The feed roller is driven to rotate to feed the uppermost sheet. Further provided is a sheet guide mechanism having at least one guiding section provided in front of the feed roller. The guiding section is inclined such that the leading ends of the plurality of sheets are moved toward the feed roller by their own weight. The guiding section is configured such that the degree of inclination of the guiding section varies depending on the amount of the plurality of sheets.

A system and method of stacking printed sheets with sheet curl stacking problems in an automatically variable configuration stacking system having a spaced array of repositionable initial sheet supporting surfaces providing a generally planar initial stack supporting configuration on which a limited amount of sheets initially stack, and then, in response to stacking additional sheets in said system, the stacking system automatically changes to a different, arcuate, stack supporting configuration by automatically lowering at least some of the spaced array of initial sheet supporting surfaces to arcuately bend the curled sheets in an arcuate direction transverse the sheet curl direction on a fixed stacking surface that is arcuate transversely of the sheet curl direction.

A new apparatus is described for storing and dispensing a masking film, which apparatus comprises a housing body enclosing a roll compartment for receiving a roll of film, as well as a housing floor, a housing cover and a cutting apparatus. The housing body further comprises a dispensing slot for removing a masking film which is parallel to the roll axis and a cutting slot which is parallel thereto. A holder guide means is arranged in the housing cover, in which the cutting apparatus (4) with the blade held by the blade holder is movable along the cutting slot. A leaf spring provided on the blade holder holds the blade in the guide slot when the cutting apparatus is not used. When cutting is performed, the blade is pressed out of the guide slot into the cutting slot by pressing against the blade holder and the film is severed by simultaneous movement of the cutting apparatus along the cutting slot.

A sheet jogging device includes a compact housing having an inclined front face, and a rack resiliently mounted to said housing along said front face. Within the housing a drive spring is fixed at one end to the housing and connected at an opposite end to the rack. An electromagnet is mounted beneath the drive spring to exert an oscillating magnetic force on the drive spring to flex the drive spring about its base to reciprocate the rack along the inclined face of the housing.

Apparatus and method for automatically adjusting a rate at which a document decelerates when entering a sort pocket of a document processing machine. The apparatus includes a track adapted for transporting the document, a guide wall, and a stacker flag spaced away from the guide wall to define the sort pocket therebetween. The sort pocket communicates with the track so that the document exits the track to enter the sort pocket. A wave spring is disposed proximate the guide wall so that the document engages the wave spring and is decelerated by the wave spring when the document enters the sort pocket. The weight of the document is calculated, and a signal is produced that represents the weight of the document. The wave spring is distorted according to this signal to vary a configuration of the wave spring depending on the weight of the document to decelerate the document at an optimal rate.

The driving rotation device rotates by receiving rotational driving force and drives the driven rotation device to rotate at a position facing the driving rotation device. The driven rotation device includes a driven rotation member contacting the driving rotation device, a cylindrical shaft having a cylindrical shape that rotatably supports the driven rotation member, and a restriction member that is at least partially inserted in an inner circumference side of the cylindrical shaft. A position of the cylindrical shaft is restricted in a width direction crossing the sheet conveyance direction by the restriction member contacting the first restriction surface, and movement of the cylindrical shaft in a rotational direction is restricted by the restriction member contacting the second restriction surface.

A sheet loading apparatus includes: a sheet loading portion that includes a bottom portion on which a sheet is loaded; and a regulating mechanism that butts an end edge of the sheet extending in a first direction to limit a position of the sheet in a second direction. The regulating mechanism includes: a guide portion that is formed on the bottom portion to extend in the second direction; and a limiting member slidable along the guide portion. The guide portion includes: first engaged portions that are formed at predetermined intervals along the second direction; and a second engaged portion that is formed continuously along the second direction. The limiting member includes: a pair of engaging portions that are composed of: a first engagement portion able to engage with one of the first engaged portions; and a second engagement portion which engages with the second engaged portion.

A holding member holds a separation pad configured to separate sheets conveyed by a roller one by one, and a roller pressing member. A pressing mechanism is disposed on an opposite side of the separation pad from the roller. The holding member is configured to move relative to the roller between a distant position and a close position in which the holding member is closer to the roller than in the distant position. The pressing mechanism is configured to press the separation pad against the roller when the holding member is in the close position. When the holding member is in the distant position, at least a roller contacting portion of the roller pressing member is retracted from a first surface of the separation pad in a direction away from the roller. The first surface of the separation pad faces the roller.
