摘要: A method for stranding aramid yarn around an endless core includes a stranding step that involves a stranding apparatus having at least one yarn bobbin. The bobbin revolves around its own axis and the bobbin revolves around the core, wherein the yarn unwinds from the bobbin and winds around the core. The yarn is a continuous aramid yarn provided with 0.05 to 0.95 wt %, based on the weight of the aramid, of a finish including an organophosphorus compound. The organophosphorus compound is a compound of the formula X1X2X3P═O. X1, X2, and X3 are independently selected from Y1-, Y1-O—, and M-O. Y1 is a branched or straight-chain C1-C20 alkyl, aryl or alkenyl. M is selected from Li, Na, K, or ammonium. At least one of X1, X2, or X3 is selected from Y1- or Y1-O—.

摘要: A hoisting member for an elevator system includes a core having strength components embedded in a matrix material. A coating can surround the core to protect the core and control the coefficient of friction of the outer surface based on a range of desired friction properties to prevent or inhibit slippage of the hoisting member when used in a traction elevator system. The strength components may be made from carbon nanotube material with the matrix material made from a polymer material. The hoisting member may also include other conductive material or fiber optic material. The hoisting member may also serve as the trailing cable in an elevator system. In doing so the hosting member transmits power and data between the elevator car and the elevator controller thereby eliminating the need for a traditional trailing cable.

摘要: A method of deploying a cable into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation that includes providing a cable. The cable includes an insulated conductor; an armor wire layer surrounding the insulated conductor; and a polymeric material disposed in interstitial spaces formed between armor wires forming the armor wire layer, and in interstitial spaces formed between the at least one armor wire layer and the at least one insulated conductor. The method also includes introducing the cable into a wellbore and performing at least one operation in the wellbore utilizing the cable.

摘要: A non-destructive test method for evaluating a synthetic rope made of strength member elements includes: treating at least one strength member element to be detectable by a magnetic NDT device, incorporating the at least one treated strength member element into the rope, scanning the synthetic rope with the magnetic NDT device, and obtaining magnetic flux leakage or eddy current output data from the magnetic NDT device, wherein the output data relates to a condition of the synthetic rope. A synthetic rope or cable is thereby made to be capable of being inspected by a magnetic flux leakage or eddy current non-destructive test (NDT) method.
