    摘要: An ignition system for an internal combustion engine is provided with an ignition timing retarding circuit to prevent overrunning of the engine. The ignition timing retarding circuit includes a switching circuit connected to the gate of an ignition control thyristor and a predetermined duration signal generator for generating a signal having a predetermined duration from a predetermined reference time. During the time period in which the predetermined duration signal is applied to the switching circuit, the switching circuit is maintained conductive to thereby bypass an ignition signal generated in synchronism with the crankshaft rotation and applied to the gate of the ignition control thyristor. As the engine speed increases, since the period of generation of the ignition signal is shortened, by selecting the duration of the predetermined duration signal with respect to the period of the ignition signal corresponding to a high engine speed to be prevented so that the leading end portion of the ignition signal overlaps the terminating end of the predetermined duration signal by a desired period of time or a desired degrees, the ignition timing retarded by the desired period of time or desired degrees.

    摘要: Electronic signal processing circuitry particularly useful in the ignition system of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. A pulse generator includes a crank-shaft position sensor supplying periodic position pulses to a bi-stable flip-flop circuit controlling a dual slope integration circuit. The integration circuit establishes a dual ramp time varying voltage signal at one input to a comparator for comparison with a reference voltage source which is established at the second input. At equality, an output pulse is initiated at the output of the comparator and this pulse is also used to change the logic state of the flip-flop. A hysteresis circuit responds to the initiation of the output pulse by modifying by a predetermined amount, the reference voltage level at the comparator. The duration of the output pulse is thereby made selectable and independent of variations in the period of the sensor pulses.

The time constant of the first monostable circuit is substantially equal to the frequency of the ignition system discharge corresponding to the maximum admissible speed of the engine. The time constant of the second monostable circuit being equal to a predetermined value equal to a value of retarded ignition allowing operation of the engine at a reduced power.

    摘要: In an internal combustion engine ignition system having a knock sensor to back-off the ignition advance at the onset of pre-ignition knocking in the engine, the sensor is activated only during a fraction of the power stroke of each piston and the activation is achieved by processing of the ignition triggering signal rather than by incorporation of position sensors on the drive shaft of the engine/gearbox combination. The signal-processing device includes first stage means to generate a signal which is shifted by a constant time relative to the signal which it receives, and second stage means which generates a signal which is shifted relative to the incoming signal by a time corresponding to a constant angle of rotation of the engine (to take into account engine rotation speed) and these stages define the beginning and the end of the periodic signal required for control of the vibration sensor.

    摘要: An ignition retarding device which cuts off the usual vacuum ignition advance to retard the ignition when the engine speed drops below a predetermined value. The speed is measured by an electronic tachometer whose input is connected across the distributor points and whose output is fed through a voltage comparator and an amplifier to control the energization of an electrically operated valve. The vacuum ignition advance may also be cut off when the brakes are actuated and there may be a further device responsive to engine temperature to restore the vacuum ignition advance if the engine temperature rises above a predetermined value. The override brake and temperature signals may be obtained by connections to the usual brake switch and temperature switch. Provision is made for use of the equipment with automotive vehicles either in which the brake switch is between the brake light and ground or between the battery and the brake light.
