    摘要: A headlamp wherein an auxiliary reflector is arranged at at least one of portions close to above, left or right ends of a main reflector providing an effective section of a reflecting mirror and outside a range that forms a light distribution characteristic. The auxiliary reflector reflects a light in a direction adjacent to a side opposite to a side at which the auxiliary reflector is arranged relative to the light distribution characteristic defined by the main reflector. The novel constitution allows a headlamp of this type, in which a light having a relatively large tilt angle from the optical axis has been conventionally prevented by the housing of the headlamp from being radiated, to effectively radiate such a light in a desired direction and in a necessary range.

    摘要: An indicator light for a motor vehicle includes a lamp, a reflector, a cover lens, and a screen placed between the lamp and the cover lens so as to mask the lamp. The reflector has a set of deflecting panels or facets, adjacent to each other and arranged to generate a plurality of secondary light sources visible within a given field of observation.Each deflecting panel comprises a central zone having a contour, projected orthogonally on the optical axis, which is generally rectangular with horizontal and vertical sides and adapted to cover the whole field of illumination, together with at least one pair of peripheral zones with oblique sides, smoothly extending the central zone on two opposed sides of the central zone. The peripheral zones together also cover the whole field of illumination. Each deflecting panel reveals at least two virtual light sources within a given field of observation, when viewed from any angle within that field. The screen is a translucent plate having retro-reflective optical means on one of its faces, and includes means for generating further secondary light sources, in a distribution similar to that of the secondary sources generated by the deflecting panels and visible in the same field of observation.

    摘要: A headlight exclusively for irradiating as light beam for a vehicle passing by in the opposite direction includes a light source and a reflective mirror as essential components. The reflective mirror has a first reflective surface having a contour of a revolving parabolic plane on an upper half of the reflective mirror, a second reflective surface having a contour of a revolving parabolic plane arranged at the central part of a lower half of the reflective mirror, and two reflective surfaces each having a contour a cylindrical parabolic plane arranged on the opposite side of the second reflective surface on the lower half of the reflective mirror. The last-mentioned reflective surfaces comprise a first surface and a second surface. The first surface serves to allow the light beam to be converged in the shape a substantially parallel light beam as seen in one direction, and the second surface serves in the same manner as the first surface in another direction at a right angle relative to the former. The headlight may be designed in the upside-down relationship relative to the aforementioned headlight such that all or the essential components are arranged upside down.

    摘要: Herein disclosed is a vehicular headlamp. The headlamp comprises a concave light reflector which includes upper and lower light reflecting surfaces each being of a paraboloid of revolution. The upper and lower light reflecting surfaces have respective upper and lower rotation axes which extend forward in parallel with each other and have respective focuses on the axes. The respective focuses are located at respective positions where an imaginary line perpendicular to the rotation axes intersects the same. A lens covers an opening of the concave light reflector. A first light source is positioned at the focus of the lower light reflecting surface, and a second light source is positioned just above the focus of the upper light reflecting surface.

    摘要: A method of making an illuminating device such as a flood light or vehicle headlight in which a light source is mounted in a jig including a member for adjustably supporting a plurality of selected small reflectors. Reflectors are selected, mounted in said jig and each reflector is adjusted to direct light impinging on that reflector to a selected area to be illuminated. After having selected and adjusted each small reflector, a matrix is made from the reflecting surfaces mounted in the jig and this matrix is used in a known manner to form male and female dies for forming one or more reflecting devices having facets to reflect light in the same pattern as determined by the adjustment of the selected small reflectors in the jig. The invention also contemplates reflectors made by the novel method.
