An intersection point between a first rotation axis and a second rotation axis is set as a rotation center Q. An interpolation point in each control period is calculated for each of the first to fifth drive axes.

The probe data is collected as the machine tool moves or scans the scanning probe along a scan path relative to a workpiece. The method includes a step of identifying a property of the scan path used by the machine tool from a characteristic of the collected probe data. In this manner, the scan path can be identified from the probe data alone without having to receive any position data from the machine tool.

The recess formed in the leg of the moving bridge assembly permits coordinate measurements of a part whose width covers the full area of the planar surface of the base, without necessarily adding significant cost or increasing the footprint of the measurement system.
