摘要: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide an alternative illuminator assembly and corresponding imaging assemblies utilizing the alternative illuminator assembly. The alternative illuminator assembly may provide alternative illuminations from those produced by an imager engine, such that the alternative illuminations may provide specific illuminations at specific illumination angles to illuminate a field of view for a desired purpose. In an example context, the alternative illuminator assembly provides one or more alternative illuminations for improving the likelihood of successfully reading specific direct part marking indicias of various types. Embodiments are provided using overlapping subassemblies that enable a small form factor assembly that can fit into mobile apparatus chasses, for example within conventional cell phone housings of around 7 millimeters. The alternative illuminator assembly may be provided together with a small form factor imaging engine, having one or more imager, to improve the direct part marking reading capabilities of the multi-sensor imaging apparatus.

摘要: This patent specification describes operations of a mobile device with barcode-reading capabilities and an application and license server. A mobile device may include a barcode-reading application downloaded from an application server. The barcode-reading application may operate in a base mode or an enhanced mode. In the base mode, the barcode-reading application may establish a network connection to a licensing server to obtain a license code, and determine at least one operating permission authorized by the license code. In the enhanced mode, the barcode-reading application may implement at least one enhanced barcode-reading function which corresponds to the at least one operating permission authorized by the license code. For example, the enhanced barcode-reading function may be a function of decoding a barcode symbology that the decoder is restricted from decoding in the base mode of operation.

摘要: One embodiment of a system and method for imaging objects from a barcode scanner may include generating a first color light source drive signal having a first duty cycle and a second color light source drive signal having a second duty cycle that is greater than the first duty cycle. In response to applying the first and second color light source drive signals to first and second color light sources, respectively, combining light beams generated by the first and second color light sources to produce a white illumination beam. An image sensor may generate image data of an object inclusive of a chine readable indicia captured in an image by the image sensor while illuminated by the white illumination beam. The machine readable indicia of the object in the image data may be read.

摘要: Disclosed is a data reader and method of data reading for an imager with multiple fields of view, including directing a first field of view of the imager along a first path, directing a second field of view of the imager along a second path, and alternately selecting one of the first view or the second view via a view splitting/combining system comprising a rotating mechanism (e.g., a disk), disposed in the view path of the imager, the disk having reflective and transmissive/open portions. The system may include synchronization between rotation of the rotating disk and the imager, one synchronization comprises using a magnet on the rotating disk and a Hall sensor on a printed circuit board beside the rotating disk, the Hall sensor output then being used to synchronize image capture to motor position. Other synchronization methods are disclosed.
