    摘要: A video camera capable of switching an aspect ratio and an electronic view finder for use in the same. In response to a switching control signal from an aspect ratio switching circuit, a video signal having a different degree of horizontal compression and an aspect switching control signal are fed to the view finder, a magnetic recording/reproducing circuit and an external device. The magnetic recording/reproducing circuit simultaneously records the video signal and the switching control signal. In reproduction, the magnetic recording/reproducing circuit reproduces and outputs the recorded switching control signal. In response to the switching control signal, the external device changes the deflection angle of a built-in display circuit and switches the aspect ratio to display the video signal. The electronic view finder receives a video signal having a different horizontal compression degree, and at the same time receives the aspect ratio switching control signal to operate the switching circuit in the view finder to change the deflection angle and hence switch the aspect ratio to display the image.

    摘要: A dithering technique in accordance with an inventive arrangement saves two bits per sample in a wideband video signal. In accordance with this arrangement, a dither signal is added to an n-bit video signal. The adder should include a limiter to avoid overflows. The samples are truncated after the addition. In truncation, the least significant two bits are simply discarded. Usually, dither values are small positive integers which tend to increase the DC content of the signal. A dither signal which can provide significant improvement in a subsampled signal is a two frequency dither in which the higher frequency has the higher amplitude. The dither signal can have any repetitive sequence of the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3 in any order within said sequence, for example, 0, 2, 1, 3, 0, 2, 1, 3, . . . , etc. The quarter-frequency component is usually more objectionable than the half-frequency component, even though the quarter-frequency component has half the amplitude of the half-frequency component. Accordingly, a dedithering scheme can be chosen to suppress only the quarter-frequency component. A first signal path of the dedithering circuit is for delay and amplitude matching. A second signal path includes a combination inverted bandpass filter and limiter. The inverted bandpass filter cancels the frequency at the center of the passband when added to the delay and amplitude matched original signal. The limiter assures that only amplitudes of dither size will be cancelled.

    摘要: Video luminance data from a video signal is selectably compressed and expanded in a first signal path including a first line memory. A second line memory in a parallel signal path processes video chrominance data from the video signal. A control circuit generates respective timing signals for writing data into each of the first and second memories and for reading data from each of first and second the line memories. A timing delay circuit for the control circuit, has video compression and expansion modes of operation. During the compression mode, reading of the second line memory is delayed relative to writing of the second line memory. The duration of the timing delays can be selected from a range of values. The line memories are first in first out (FIFO) devices having independently enabled write and read ports.

The feedback current is coupled to a capacitor to develop a capacitor voltage. The capacitor voltage is applied via a voltage-to-current converter to an integrating capacitor to develop in the integrating capacitor the trace portion of the sawtooth signal.

    摘要: A video display control system, comprises a video display having a first format display ratio. A picture height circuit determines an active video picture height from an input video signal having a second format display ratio. A detector circuit identifies letterbox formats responsive to the active video picture height in the video signal and determines a format display ratio of the letterbox picture. A vertical pan control circuit automatically centers the picture in both modes of operation.     摘要: An energizing voltage is series coupled with a diode, an inductor, a flyback transformer primary winding and an input terminal of a deflection circuit. During trace, the diode is forward biased causing a voltage to be developed across and an input current to flow in the inductor. During retrace, opposite polarity retrace voltage commutates off the diode and decouples the input terminal from the energizing voltage at a varied instant within retrace, in accordance with the amplitude of the input current. The amplitude of the input current is related to the ultor load current. A voltage that is indicative of the input current is developed across a capacitor. A DC voltage between one plate of the capacitor and a reference conductor controls the deflection current in the deflection winding such that variations in the ultor voltage produce the same sense variations in the DC voltage that is supplied by the capacitor for maintaining a substantially constant raster width.

    摘要: A pulse width modulator is described for width-modulating horizontal rate pulses developed in a television receiver and for applying the width-modulated pulses to the receiver's horizontal drive system. In the illustrated embodiment, the modulator includes a differential amplifier which senses the receiver's high voltage and beam current to develop a control signal which varies in accordance with variations in the beam current and the high voltage. A second differential amplifier receives the control signal and horizontal rate pulses for developing pulses whose width is varied in response to variations in the control signal. The width-modulated pulses cause the horizontal drive system to generate a substantially constant horizontal picture size despite variations in line voltage and brightness.
