摘要： A sewage handling assembly particularly for boats and recreational vehicles with a minimum of components. The waste discharge of a toilet is connected to an inlet for a combined vacuum and holding tank which mounts a vacuum pump, and optionally mounts a sewage discharge pump. A sewage discharge conduit, which may be connected to the optional sewage discharge pump, is connected to a first outlet from the tank, in turn connected to a dip tube terminating in an open end just above the tank bottom. A second outlet from the tank is connected to the vacuum pump (in turn connected to a gas conduit with an end termination penetrating an exterior partition of the boat or RV), and an upwardly extending gas tube inside the tank, having an opening near the interior top of the tank, is connected to the second outlet. The tank is controlled so that a gas volume of about 2 and 1/2-4 gallons is always maintained in the tank, with a vacuum level of between about 8-10 inches of mercury. Once the volume of sewage in the tank reaches a predetermined level--so that sewage might be inadvertently withdrawn by the vacuum pump--the vacuum pump is controlled so that it will not operate until the tank is emptied (or the sewage level otherwise reduced).

摘要： A method and apparatus for treatment of waste on ships and the like, in the form of solid waste and black water collected in a tank from reduced flush toilets. The solid waste is mixed with black water from the tank in a drum. Rotating knives in the drum effect the disintegration of the solid waste, and also the picking up of the waste in the drum from the bottom thereof to permit it to drop repeatedly by gravity from the upper regions of the drum. A flow of hot air is passed through the drum and hence through the dropping mixed black water and disintegrated solid waste. The axis of the drum is substantially horizontal, and may be slightly inclined with bottom ridges to inhibit the flow of liquids therealong.

A dual deck fitting and associated equipment permits conventional dockside pumpout of the holding tank and also permits overboard dump of the contents of the tank. The dual deck fitting is provided with a pair of plugs, one of which embodies a pivotable handle which facilitates threading and unthreading of the plug in the deck fitting and also a lug which engages a slot in the other plug to facilitate threading and unthreading of the latter plug in the deck fitting.

摘要： A vacuum-operated waste disposal toilet system suitable for use on commercial passenger vehicles, in particular railcars, including at least one bowl for receiving waste material and a full-retention waste-holding tank connected to the bowl by a drain line. A vacuum blower connected to the waste tank for creating a vacuum in the drain line. A flush valve assembly is provided in the drain line, and is selectively openable to connect the vacuum in the drain line to the bowl for sucking the waste out of the bowl. A disposable spray ring containing a plurality of holes, selectively coupled to a water source, is wedged between the bowl and a separate lip member for dispensing water onto the interior surface of the bowl. The flush valve assembly includes a vacuum chamber with top and bottom vacuum inlet ports, a piston connected to a valve blade movable vertically within the chamber and a flush solenoid openable to selectively connect a second vacuum to the top and bottom inlet ports. The flush solenoid in the open position opens the valve blade, which in turn opens the flush valve assembly. The assembly is supported by a novel light weight composite base having a triangulated shape. The waste-holding tank contains a plurality compression load cells on the bottom exterior surface of the tank to accurately determine the capacity level of the tank.

摘要： A marine tank (such as a toilet system holding tank, or bilge tank) pump out system includes a positive displacement pump connectable at the inlet to a marine tank to be pumped out and connectable at the outlet to a discharge tank or area. A pulsation dampener is connected between the pump outlet and the discharge tank or area, preferably directly to the pump so that a pump check valve is within the pulsation dampener. The pulsation dampener has an open chamber extending upwardly from the pump outlet into which pumped fluent material may flow, and has no moving parts (such as a diaphragm). Typically two different outlets from the dampener are provided for versatility and connecting up to discharge tanks or areas, one of the outlets filled with a plug. The dampener may comprise either a substantially L-shaped or C-shaped (when viewed from the dampener inlet) casing, which nests with the pump motor.

摘要： In a sea vessel having a bilge pump energized in response to bilge water level, an operating parameter of the bilge pump, such as on-time or water output, is monitored and compared with a normal or expected reference value of the parameter to indirectly detect leakage into the bilge. The reference value may be manually set by the operator or may be automatically set in response to circuitry for obtaining the running average of the parameter previously monitored. In one embodiment, an alarm is triggered if the reference is exceeded by the monitored parameter indicative of excessive leakage. In a second embodiment, the monitored parameter is compared with two references. A first alarm at the vessel is triggered if the monitored bilge pump parameter is above the first reference indicating slightly excessive leakage into the bilge whereas a second alarm, which may be remote, is triggered if the monitored parameter is above the second, higher reference indicating grossly excessive leakage.
