A cyanoacrylate adhesive composition thickened by a copolymer or terpolymer resin capable of being dissolved or solvated by the cyanoacrylate monomer exhibits significantly improved peel strength. Storage stability is also enhanced. Preferred thickeners are acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene terpolymers, methacrylate-butadiene-styrene terpolymers, and vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile copolymers. Preferred monomers are methyl and ethyl cyanoacrylates.

Disclosed herein are high nitrile polymers which have been compounded with a modifier which is a combination of (1) a C.sub.12 to C.sub.28 saturated aliphatic fatty acid ester of glycerol or sorbitan and (2) a polyoxyethylene sorbitan ester. The amount of modifier used is in the range of from 0.01 to 1.0 percent by weight based on the weight of the nitrile polymer. The compounded polymers exhibit lower melt viscosity and increased melt flow. The modifiers also provide improved clarity, gloss and, in certain instances, articles molded from the compounded nitrile polymer exhibit lower residual monomer levels.

The invention relates to a coating composition comprising:—a polymeric coating binder; wherein the polymeric coating binder has a glass temperature Tg of at least 0° C. and at most 30° C.;—at least one first filler, wherein the first filler comprises expanded polymeric microspheres; and, at least one second filler, wherein the second filler comprises expanded glass particles; wherein said coating composition comprises at least 0.1% by weight and at most 25% by weight of said at least one first filler and at least one second filler combined, based on the total weight of the composition. Sterilized wound healing compositions comprise stabilized cyanoacrylate monomers homogenously mixed together with a naphthoquinone 2,3-oxide, including vitamin K oxides. The compositions are sterilized by irradiation, and the sterilized compositions are shelf stable such that their viscosity does not substantially increase following at least two years of shelf storage. The compositions may be used for closure of open wounds, and the compositions enhance the rate of wound healing relative to wounds not closed with the compositions.
