Abstract: Durable, anti-fouling, crosslinked zwitterionic coatings that are grafted to the surface of a substrate through covalent bonding are disclosed. When exposed to a light source, zwitterionic monomers react with a crosslinker and with activated radicals at the surface of the substrate, simultaneously forming the crosslinked zwitterionic coating and anchoring it to the surface of the substrate. Photomasking techniques can be used to micropattern the zwitterionic coatings. The zwitterionic coatings can be applied to a variety of substrates, including medical devices and systems.

Abstract: An anti-reflective coating composition comprises an organic polymer. The organic polymer comprises a crosslinkable polymer. The crosslinkable polymer comprises a monomer unit formed by a monomer represented by formula (I):
wherein R1 is selected from substituted or unsubstituted C2-C10 alkenyl, and R2 and R3 are each independently selected from H, substituted or unsubstituted C1-C6 alkyl, and substituted or unsubstituted C6-C20 aryl. Compared with the prior art, the subject crosslinkable polymer comprises the monomer unit that can be self-crosslinked with functional groups such as hydroxyl, amino, and sulfhydryl, such that a crosslinking agent does not need to be added to a coating. The generation of gas during baking process of the composition can be effectively reduced or eliminated, and some unnecessary cleaning process is avoided by doing so. The pattern damage due to solid particle caused by gas condensation can also be avoided. The overall process flow can be simplified and the relevant cost can be reduced.-

Abstract: Radiation-curing bio-based durable topcoats or coatings and a radiation cure method of producing leather alternatives are disclosed. Biobased non-isocyanate poly(hydroxyl urethane) (NIPU), biobased polyesters, biobased polyethers, biobased polycarbonates, and biobased polyamides can be readily synthesized, and further modified with biobased acryloyl chloride, methacryloyl chloride, or itaconic anhydride into biobased radiation curable prepolymers. Through formulating such obtained biobased prepolymers with biobased acrylate and biobased methacrylate monomers, and using a radiation cure method, durable topcoats and leather alternatives with low environmental footprints can be obtained.

Abstract: An example of an array includes a support, a cross-linked epoxy polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) resin film on a surface of the support, and a patterned hydrophobic polymer layer on the cross-linked epoxy POSS resin film. The patterned hydrophobic polymer layer defines exposed discrete areas of the cross-linked epoxy POSS resin film, and a polymer coating is attached to the exposed discrete areas. Another example of an array includes a support, a modified epoxy POSS resin film on a surface of the support, and a patterned hydrophobic polymer layer on the modified epoxy POSS resin film. The modified epoxy POSS resin film includes a polymer growth initiation site, and the patterned hydrophobic polymer layer defines exposed discrete areas of the modified epoxy POSS resin film. A polymer brush is attached to the polymer growth initiation site in the exposed discrete areas.

The insulation coating contains a plasticizer. The waterproof portion is constituted as a cured body of a resin composition containing a urethane (meth)acrylate oligomer and a nitrogen-containing monomer, which is a radical polymerizable monomer containing a nitrogen atom.

Abstract: Polyacrylamide (PAM)-coated nanosand that may be a relative permeability modifier (RPM) and that is applied to treat a wellbore in a subterranean formation. The treatment may be for excess water production. The PAM-coated nanosand is PAM-hydrogel-coated nanosand. The PAM-coated nanosand os nanosand coated with PAM hydrogel. The PAM hydrogel includes crosslinked PAM in water. Application of the PAM-coated nanosand may reduce water production from the subterranean formation into the wellbore. The PAM hydrogel of the PAM-coated nanosand may expand in a water zone of the subterranean formation to restrict water flow into the wellbore. The PAM hydrogel of the PAM-coated nanosand may contract in an oil zone of the subterranean formation so not to significantly restrict crude oil flow into the wellbore.
