摘要: A humidifier for humidification of air to be delivered to a patient's airways may include a humidification chamber, a reservoir and a water delivery mechanism. The humidification chamber may include a water retention feature such as a wick, a heating element for heating the humidification chamber, and an air flow baffle configured to promote humidification. The humidifier may be further configured to execute one or more algorithms, for example to determine a condition of the humidifier and/or to mitigate any detected faults. In some forms, the humidifier may also comprise algorithms for controlling one or more components of the humidifier.

摘要: A supplemental oxygen delivery system is described in which Aerosol is delivered into a housing 10, 20, which sits in the circuit from the supplemental oxygen supply and optional humidifier. The supplemental oxygen passes through this chamber 10, 20 in which the aerosol is located, and collects the aerosol transporting it to a patient via a nasal cannula 3 or a face mask 4. An aerosol generator 9 is mounted to the housing 10, 20 and delivers aerosol into an oxygen stream 13 flowing between an inlet 14 and an outlet 15 of the housing 10. The housing 10 also has a removable plug 16 in the base 17 thereof for draining any liquid that accumulates in the housing 10. There is no disruption of oxygen delivery to patients using nasal cannulas who currently have to use a separate face-mask when receiving nebulized medication.

摘要: Dispensing systems for a ventilator circuit having a ventilator flow circuit with a normal inhalation flow path with a heat and moisture exchanger (HME), a flow sensor in communication with the ventilator circuit, an automated drug dispensing system with an actuator and a pressurized canister residing upstream of the HME, a bypass inhalation flow path residing downstream of the pressurized canister, and at least one electromechanical valve residing in the inhalation flow path to selectively open the valve which can be normally closed to define a closed bypass path. At least one controller opens the at least one electromechanical valve to open the bypass inhalation flow path and close the normal inhalation flow path through the HME only when the flow sensor indicates air flow is in an inhalation direction. Once the valve is open, the actuator dispenses medication through the bypass inhalation flow path to the patient.

摘要: A dispenser device for fluid or powder, including an air expeller (20) and a reservoir (30). The reservoir (30) has an air inlet (31) connected to the air expeller (20) and a composition outlet (32) connected to a dispenser opening (10), and is removably mounted on the air expeller. After actuation, the empty reservoir can be removed from the air expeller and replaced with a new reservoir. The air inlet (31) is closed by a first closure element (40) and the composition outlet (32) is closed by a second closure element (50). A mechanical opening system (61, 62) co-operates with the first and second closure elements to expel each closure element from the closed position. The mechanical opening system has a first rod (61) secured to the air expeller (20), and a second rod (62) secured to the dispenser head (1), co-operating with a closure element during actuation.

摘要: A nebulizer device aerosolizes (or vaporizes) liquid drawn from a liquid reservoir via a fluid flow path into a nebulization chamber. An inlet port is coupled to an external air supply and leads through a check valve and Venturi nozzle (e.g. a duckbill valve) into the chamber to direct an air stream across an opening of the fluid flow path. A discharge port leads from the chamber to a user mask, mouthpiece or canula, where the aerosol or vapor mixture can be inhaled. A filtered outlet port isolates exhaled material from the external environment. Multiple discrete heating elements may be placed around the fluid flow path to preheat the liquid. If the liquid is sufficiently volatile, heating may vaporize the material which can condense back into an aerosol after mixing with the air stream. A set of check valves direct one-way fluid flow and prevent leakage or spillage of material from the device.

摘要: Topical applications that provide a nitric oxide therapy to a surface are provided. Systems for providing a topical nitric oxide therapy can comprise a nitrite medium in a first container, the nitrite medium comprising about 3% of a nitrite component by weight. The system comprises an acidic medium in a second container, the acidic medium comprising about 9% by weight of one or more acidic reactants. The nitrite medium and the acidic medium are configured to be combined to form a nitric oxide topical medium producing nitric oxide suitable for topical application and suitable for administering nitric oxide therapy wherein a therapeutically effective amount of the nitric oxide topical medium is applied to a treatment surface suitable for receiving nitric oxide therapy, whereby the application of the therapeutically effective amount is adapted to deliver a dose of nitric oxide at the treatment surface of a patient.

摘要: A system for respiration-controlled application of aerosol in powder form during artificial respiration or assisted respiration of a patient including an interface contacting the patient's respiratory tract, a unit for generating a respiratory gas flow, at least one inspiration line through gas flow is conducted to the interface, an aerosol generator, at least one aerosol line through which the generated aerosol is conducted from the aerosol generator to the interface, and a respiration sensor that detects the patient's respiration signal. A valve in the at least one aerosol line is controlled based on the detected respiratory signal. An intermediate store for generated aerosol in powder form is arranged between the valve and the aerosol generator. The gas flow has a first pressure that is higher than or equal to ambient pressure and the aerosol has a second pressure that is higher than or equal to the first pressure.

In one case, a multiple inhalation chamber system has two or more separate test fluid delivery systems and provides options for selective passive uniform drug delivery to multiple chambers or selective delivery of two or more different drugs to different groups of chambers from different delivery systems so that two different drugs or different concentrations of delivered drugs can be tested simultaneously.
