    摘要: A curable formaldehyde-free binding composition for use with fiberglass is provided. Such curable composition comprises an aldehyde or ketone and an amine salt of an inorganic acid. The composition when applied to fiberglass is cured to form a water-insoluble binder which exhibits good adhesion to glass. In a preferred embodiment the composition when applied to fiberglass provides a sufficient blackness required in facer products.

    摘要: An apparatus for fabricating an optical fiber coated with metal, constructed with a crucible for melting the optical fiber preform to draw an uncoated optical fiber, a diameter measuring device for measuring the diameter of the uncoated optical fiber to regulate it, a metal coater for coating the uncoated optical fiber with metal to prevent penetration of moisture, a temperature controller for controlling the inside temperature of the metal coater, a post-cooler for cooling the metaled optical fiber from a high temperature, a capstan for drawing the optical fiber from the optical fiber preform by applying a rotational force against a portion of the metaled optical fiber, and a spool for winding the metaled optical fiber. The metaled optical fiber includes a core for transmitting light, a cladding on the core having lower refractive index than the core, and a metal coating formed on the cladding for preventing penetration of moisture.

    摘要: There is disclosed a process for preparing novel tacking agents for glass fiber insulation. The tacking agent solution is prepared by adding a condensed phosphate to an aqueous solution of aluminum orthophosphate to provide a homogeneous solution having an Al:P molar ratio of less than 1, preferably 1:3 and wherein the amount of condensed phosphate comprises from about 25 to about 75 percent of the total phosphate in the solution. The tacking agent is applied to glass fiber in the preparation of insulating articles and then heated to convert the tacking agent into a non-hygroscopic, water insoluble, amorphous, condensed aluminum phosphate polymer. The tacking agent resiliently tacks the glass fibers together so as to provide regain of shape after deformation of the fibers as by compression.

    摘要: A non-compressed heat insulation barrier fabric composite comprising a layer coating of polysiloxane and silicate applied to a textured woven fabric under heat and pressure in a multi-step process to produce a decompressed composite. The fabric composite is produced by coating the woven fabric with the polysiloxane silicate coating and partially curing under heat and pressure to produce a partially cured. composite, whereupon the curing process is interrupted and the partially cured composite is decompressed to loosen the fibers, followed by complete curing of the composite under heat without significant pressure to produce a non-compressed heat insulation barrier fabric composite.
