摘要： A mechanism is provided for automatically controlling the operation of a media device based at least in part upon whether a portable presentation device coupled to the media device is currently being worn by a user. A portable presentation device may be any device that is meant to be worn by a user and that is capable of presenting media content to the user (e.g. earphones, headphones, goggles or faceplates with video/audio capability, etc.). With this mechanism, a user can affect the operation of the media device by simply putting on or taking off the portable presentation device. The user does not need to manually manipulate the controls of the media device. By automatically controlling the operation of the media device in this manner, use of the media device and the portable presentation device as a unit is made much simpler and more convenient.

During an off-timer function operation, when reproduction of contents is detected (step 201), a contents reproducing time is calculated from TOC information (step 203, step 204), and when this contents reproducing time is shorter than a timer remaining time X of the off-timer, the timer time is regarded as a contents reproducing time (step 206, step 207), and in this way, when reproduction of contents is finished earlier than a predetermined timer time, power is turned off at the end of reproduction of contents and when the set timer time is longer than the contents reproducing time, the power is turned off at the end of the timer time.

摘要： A portable, programmable, microprocessor-controlled, universal field test unit is provided which is capable of performing functional tests on most, if not all, of the better known present-day disc drives, including the 80, 160 and 300 megabyte types. The unit to be described will be termed herein as a programmable disc drive qualifier, and it is capable of carrying out a wide variety of special test programs, as well as standard diagnostic programs, and it may also be used to format disc packs with many different formats, including thirty-two and eighty-six sector formats. The qualifier may be internally set to count all data errors, or only uncorrectable errors. The qualifier, in the embodiment to be described, is controlled by a combination of twelve operation keys and twelve numeric keys. A complete instruction is generated by the actuation of one of the operation keys and one of the numeric keys. Individual instructions may be executed in the unit, or it may be run automatically under program control. Programs may be created by the actuation of the operation keys and numeric keys, or they may originate from a pre-programmed memory.
