    摘要: In a settling judgment method for judging whether an object is settled at a target position, a margin for settling judgment is expanded, and settling is judged accurately. As the settling judgment formula of the settling judgment block, both the position error and the added value of the position errors of a plurality of samples are used. Particularly for the vibration in the low frequency area, the margin for settling judgment increases. Therefore even if vibration exists in the low frequency area, judging as deviation from the settling judgment conditions by mistake can be decreased, and operations (e.g. read/write operation) can be continued.

    摘要: In a magneto-optical recording apparatus, in which light spots are sequentially formed on a magneto-optical disk at the timing of a predetermined reference clock signal while a modulating magnetic field, which is reversed in polarity as a function of record data in synchronism with the reference clock signals, is applied to the disk for magnetically recording the record data thereon; the timing of polarity reversal of the modulating magnetic field with respect to the reference clock signal is delayed as a function of the magnetic and/or temperature characteristics of the magneto-optical disk to permit a magnetized domain to be formed at the correct position with respect to the timing of the reference clock signal. The intensity and/or duration of intermittent energizing of the light beam is controlled as a function of the ambient temperature of the magneto-optical disk and/or the radial sweeping position of the light spot to permit each magnetized domain to be formed at the correct position with respect to the timing of the reference clock signal.

    摘要: The method of the invention is performed on a disk drive with at least a rotatable disk and a head/arm mechanism movable thereover. The disk has a plurality of concentric tracks, including innermost and outermost tracks and an intermediate track positioned therebetween, with the intermediate track including often-used records. The method reduces movements of the head/arm mechanism through the steps of: positioning the head/arm mechanism over the intermediate track; moving the head/arm mechanism away from the intermediate track to another track to perform a requested read operation; moving the head/arm mechanism back to the intermediate track from the further track and performing write actions in the tracks over which the head/arm mechanism moves in its traversal back to the intermediate track.

    摘要: In a magnetic disk apparatus such as a Winchester drive, a head position control mechanism is provided for locking the transducer head on a noneffective surface region of the magnetic disk, where no data is to be stored, as when the apparatus is powered off. A locking lever pivots in a plane parallel to the disk plane for movement into and out of locking engagement with a rotary member rotatable jointly with the head arm about a common axis. A solenoid holds the locking lever out of locking engagement with the rotary member during the progress of data transfer between disk and head. Upon completion of the data transfer, or when the apparatus is electrically turned off, the solenoid becomes deenergized, permitting the locking lever to be sprung into locking engagement with the rotary member. Then the head arm transports the head to, and allows the same to land on, the noneffective surface region of the disk. The head is locked in that position as long as the locking lever remains in locking engagement with the rotary member.

    摘要: A universal disk drive system (30) incorporates multiple read/write heads (204) supported on a rotatable carousel assembly (180) for selective positioning and alignment relative to a flexible magnetic disk on a drive spindle (120). A disk is received and fed along an input path to the drive spindle (120) by feed rollers (36,38) driven in unison. A clamp cone assembly (90) is mounted for movement relative to the drive spindle (120) for clamping either one of two predetermined sizes of disks against the drive spindle with coaxial inner and outer clamp cones (102, 104). The carousel assembly (180) includes a spider (186) supported for rotation about an angled spindle support (158). A read/write head (204) is supported on each angled arm of the spider (186) for precise radial and pivotal alignment relative to the disk by means of a slidable carriage (220) and azimuth adjustment module (246). Rotation of the carousel assembly (180) is controlled by an index and locking assembly (320).

    摘要: There is described, among other things, a novel record player of the slot-loading type in which a phonograph record disc is supported in a playing position on a turntable rotatably driveable at a selected speed about an axis. The disc, in its playing position, is engageable with a stylus supported by a transducer cartridge held in a carriage which is movable along a line radially of the turntable above the turntable in response to tracking engagement of the stylus in the spiral groove of the phonograph record disc. The turntable is movable along such axis into and out of a playing position thereof, and the turntable and the carriage are disposed in an enclosing housing. According to this invention, the housing includes a door which is closed when the turntable is in its playing position. The door includes record support members, accessible in an open position of the door, for receiving and supporting a record and for disposing a supported record between the turntable and the carriage coaxially above the turntable when the door is in its closed position. The record-supporting members are positionally adjustable for receiving and supporting at different times records of different diameters. The record support elements are power driven between their various adjusted positions. The drive mechanism associated with the record support elements is operable when the door is in its open position. Also, a power mechanism is provided for moving the door between its open and closed positions.

    摘要: A nonrecorded section detection sensor is mounted on a sensor arm which is rotatable around a shaft, to which a drive mechanism is connected to scan the nonrecorded section detection sensor above a disc. A slit plate is fixed to the shaft to detect the rotation of the shaft, whereby the address of a nonrecorded section provided between two adjacent tracks recorded on the disc is detected. Another slit plate is fixed to a tonearm drive shaft to detect a current address of a pickup cartridge mounted on a tonearm. A control circuit functions to locate the pickup cartridge at a beginning position of a selected track through the use of information related to the addresses of the nonrecorded section and the pickup cartridge.
