Abstract: A storage network operates by: receiving a encoded data slice for storage by the storage network, wherein the encoded data slice is associated with a vault; generating a encryption key corresponding to the encoded data slice based on a vault identifier associated with the vault; utilizing the encryption key to generate a encrypted data slice and that corresponds to, and is based on, the encoded data slice; storing the encrypted data slice in a storage unit of the storage network; receiving a request to retrieve the encoded data slice; retrieving the encrypted data slice corresponding to the encoded data slice from the storage unit of the storage network; generating a decryption key corresponding to the encoded data slice based on the vault identifier, wherein the decryption key is different from the encryption key; and regenerating the encoded data slice using the decryption key.

Abstract: Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) express bulk file deletion is described. A list of files in a Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) is generated in order of an associated date of files in the HDFS. A predetermined date for retaining selected files in the HDFS is received. A count of files in the list with the associated date of the files in the HDFS older than the predetermined date is identified. Files for deletion from the HDFS having the associated date older than the predetermined date are identified, a number of the files identified for deletion being equal to the count of files. The number of the files in the HDFS identified for deletion equal to the count of files are deleted.

Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for a decentralized database associating public keys and communications addresses. A signed secret message may be sent by a validator computing device of a peer-to-peer network for a decentralized database to a communications address from a request for verification entry in a verification queue of the decentralized database. A second request for verification including the communications address and a user-signed secret message may be received. The user-signed secret message may be verified using a public key from the request for verification entry in the verification queue. The communications address and public key may be written to a verified database of the decentralized database when verifying the user-signed secret message causes a number of user-signed secret messages received in requests for verification with the communications address and successfully verified to meet a threshold number.

The identification of types of assets within an IT environment may be based on analyzing a “source type” field included in events associated with the IT environment, where the source type field included in each event provides an indication of a type of device or service to which the event relates. The values stored in the source type field of events associated with a user's IT environment might indicate, for example, the presence of various types of computing devices, software applications, network devices, and so forth. Based on the identification of types of assets present in an IT environment, an IT and security operations application automatically configures corresponding connectors for those types of assets.
