A range finding device having a lens holder with two tunnels, and two lens plates mounted in front of the tunnels. Two pins are formed on the front surface of the lens holder, the two pins being positioned on vertical positioning lines externally of the vertical center lines of the two tunnels. Each lens plate has an elongated hole extending in the direction of the vertical positioning line, a pin being inserted in the elongated hole. In a preferred embodiment, each lens plate has four holes formed therein. Two of the four holes are used for coupling with two pins. Of these two holes used for positioning, one is a round hole and the other is an elongated hole.

A solid state image pick-up device is provided in which a photoelectric conversion element is configured so that a light reception portion of the photoelectric conversion element is covered with a member of light transmissible glass. A frame, used as a package, is filled with synthetic resin by a potting method, and the synthetic resin is solidified so that the frame, the peripheral portions of the glass member, and the photoelectric conversion element are integrally combined with each other. By so doing, the light transmission property of the photoelectric element can be properly made, excellent moisture resistance can be obtained, and improved reliability of the device results.

A dielectric resonator device includes a casing for defining a chamber in which a dielectric resonator and a piezoelectric frequency adjusting unit are provided. A portion of the piezoelectric frequency adjusting unit is located adjacent the dielectric resonator. By the voltage applied to the piezoelectric frequency adjusting unit, the piezoelectric frequency adjusting unit changes its shape thereby changing the distance between the portion of the piezoelectric frequency adjusting unit and the dielectric resonator. Thus, the resonance frequency of the dielectric device can be controlled.

Bacterial endotoxin in an assay sample is determined by an amoebocyte lysate component of horseshoe crab in the presence or absence of a substrate for endotoxin determination by using an assay sample in the liquid state obtained by treating said assay sample with an endotoxin-free acid having a pKa.sup.25.degree. C. value of not more than 3 at a pH of not more than 3; and a kit therefor, a receptacle containing (a) an endotoxin-free acid having a pKa.sup.25.degree. C. value of not more than 3 e.g. perchloric acid, trichloroacetic acid, nitric acid, for treating the assay sample and a receptacle containing (b) an amoebocyte lysate component or horseshoe crab. The acid treatment of the assay sample results in improved accuracy, reliability and reproducibility of the bacterial endotoxin determination.
