Abstract:
An activatable adhesive that is formulated to readily absorb energy from a given radiation source, an activatable adhesive label that incorporates such an activatable adhesive, a system for activating such labels, and related methods and uses are described. The activatable adhesive includes a plasticizer, a tackifier, and an adhesive base polymer that includes butyl acrylate, styrene, methyl methacrylate, methacrylic acid, and acrylic acid.
Abstract:
A high strength, flexible, foldable and printable sheet, such as a label sheet or cardstock, is provided with a line of weakness. The sheet has maximum dimensions greater than that of a box into which the sheet is to be located, and is therefore folded flat to fit into the box. The sheet is later removed, and may be printed in a laser or ink jet printer or copier. The sheet is formed to have a tensile strength of at least 4.5 or 5.0 or more kilograms, across the line of weakness, so that it will reliably feed through an office type printer or copier.
Abstract:
A document sheet with a removably attached object thereon having simplified inexpensive construction and having a reduced cross-sectional thickness enabling use of the sheet in printers without the risk of jamming the printer. The document sheet also allows both sides of the object to be printed prior to its removal from the sheet with preferably at least 60% of the rear surface being accessible for printing through the use of an indentation window.
Abstract:
A liner for a label sheet has a printed image under the release layer and an opaque ink receptive coating on the opposite side thereof with a printed image thereon. Label sheets with this liner further include an overlay having at least one label cut therethrough which is aligned with the release layer of the liner and an adhesive layer which bonds the overlay and liner. The label sheet can be part of a form/label combination where the overlay includes the portion that is not adhered to the liner.

A material sheet assembly in which a label base attached to a release liner by means of an adhesive is set in roll form is used. In a step in which the material sheet assembly is continuously fed out, the release liner is released by leaving the adhesive on the label base, and the release liner is consecutively taken up. By using a noncontact-type printer, printing is effected on the adhesive surface of the label base separated from the release liner to form a printed label. The printed label is in such a form that the printed surface is disposed between the label base and an adherend. The labels can be attached immediately after they are manufactured, and they can be stored or transported by being taken up in roll form while an additional release liner is attached to the printed surface side.

A halogen-free acrylic urethane sheet material 10 is disclosed which can be marked by conventional printing methods and by radiation methods. The halogen-free acrylic urethane sheet material of the invention is manufactured from a polymer comprising components A, B and C wherein component A comprises a copolymer of (i) a monoester of acrylic or methacrylic acid and an aliphatic diol having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and (ii) an ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid and an aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and optionally a vinyl aromatic monomer as well as N-vinylpyrrolidone or N-vinylcaprolactame, said component A having a T.sub.g of 30.degree. C. to 100.degree. C., component B comprising an aliphatic polyester diol with a molecular weight less than 20,000 and component C comprising a polyfunctional isocyanate or blocked polyfunctional isocyanate.

A label-equipped web method wherein the label is die-cut from base stock constituting the sheet and held in place by a pressure-sensitive adhesive-equipped release liner, the web constituting the release liner having a pattern of coatings thereon including a pattern of release material applied at a first site so as to leave bands uncoated and thereafter coated at a second site with pressure-sensitive adhesive so as to permanently attach the liner to the sheet in the band area to resist shearing forces tending to dislodge the liner.
Abstract:
A garment indicia strip and method for size labeling a pair of folded pants. A strip of flexible material has indicia repeatedly printed along a first major surface thereof. The indica are printed using symbols having a height no greater than the width of an edge of said folded pants. A second major surface of the strip has a pressure sensitive adhesive material bonded thereto. In use, the second surface of the strip is affixed to a pair of pants at a predetermined position whereby sizing information of the pants can be determined by reading the strip when the pants are folded.
Abstract:
A construction for a laminated card or label is provided including a transparent film having a pressure sensitive adhesive on one surface thereof and liner stock having first and second major surfaces. The first surface has a release coating adhered to the pressure sensitive adhesive on the film. Variable information may be printed on the second surface of the liner stock within the die cut area, and the die cut card removed from the transparent film and replaced printed side down onto the adhesive surface of the film, thereby laminating the card to the film. The card is then peeled away from remainder of the construction at the die cut around the film and folded with the indicia facing outward to laminate the sides the card together. The printed surfaces of the card are direct contact with the adhesive, thus preventing tampering of the card.
