    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to wireless communications utilizing discontinuous reception (DRX). Disclosed methods and apparatus include providing a grant indicator in a transmission from a base station to a user equipment (UE), where indicator notifies the UE of a grant of data during a subsequent discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle in the at least one UE. Additionally, a tracking reference signal (TRS), which may be aperiodic (A-TRS), is transmitted prior to an on-duration time of the DRX cycle, where the TRS is usable by the UE for updating a tracking loop and also can be referenced by the indicator. In this manner, the combination of the grant indicator and the TRS affords a UE sufficient time for updating a UE tracking loop before the DRX cycle. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to communication systems, apparatus and methods which enable or support transmitting/receiving downlink control information (DCI) carrying a downlink grant or an uplink grant. A method includes detecting a reference length based on an effective length of a downlink (DL) grant DCI and an effective length of an uplink (UL) grant DCI and calculating a length difference based on the effective DL grant DCI length and the effective UL grant DCI length. A length of a padding field in the DL grant DCI and/or the UL grant DCI is set equal to the calculated length difference such that the lengths of the DL grant DCI and UL grant DCI are both equal to the reference length. Padding bits are inserted in the padding field of the DL grant DCI and/or the UL grant DCI. Thereafter, the DL grant DCI and/or the UL grant DCI is encoded and transmitted to a scheduled entity.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may transmit a scheduling request to a base station. In some aspects, the user equipment may monitor for an ultra-reliable low latency communications type of response message from the base station based at least in part on transmitting the scheduling request to the base station, wherein the response message includes an indicator of an assignment of uplink resources for the user equipment or that the assignment of uplink resources is delayed, and wherein, based at least in part on the monitoring, the user equipment avoids retransmission of the scheduling request when the response message is detected or retransmits the scheduling request without delay when the response message is not detected.     Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for uplink power control when at least two separate power control algorithms are utilized for adjusting transmission power of uplink transmissions on one or more uplink channels to one or more access points. The method includes transmitting one or more power headroom report (PHR) based on channel and/or system parameters. In addition, methods are presented to match power control for uplink channels when different power control algorithms are used for those uplink channels. Furthermore, methods are proposed to compensate for a switch between reference signals on which the power control algorithms are based.
