    Abstract: Systems, apparatus and methods for enabling a mobile station to control a virtual world being executed on a console system are described. The method can include establishing a communication link between the mobile station and a console system, identifying user interface characteristics of the mobile station, and providing a controller application to the mobile station, the controller application being based on the identified user interface characteristics and configured to transform user interface inputs into controller commands. The method can further include receiving signals containing data representing the controller commands from the mobile station over the communication link and determining a sequence of events of the virtual world based on the received controller commands In one aspect, the controller application can execute in the context of an application on the mobile station.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to eye tracking systems and methods which track eyes by illuminating the eyes using a light source and detecting the eye illuminations using a sensor. Implementations of the present disclosure may utilize a light source with a dynamic lighting position to account for changes in lighting conditions during the tracking which interfere with detection of the eye illuminations, such as reflections in glasses which may obscure a user's eyes.

    Abstract: An instruction point extraction unit extracts an instruction point of a user from an image in which a gesture of the user made while the user is looking at a display is captured. A distance calculation unit obtains a distance to the instruction point in the depth direction. A gesture recognition parameter adjustment unit adjusts a parameter related to detection sensitivity in the depth direction when operation input by the gesture of the user is recognized, based on at least one of resolution of distance measurement in the depth direction and three-dimensional display performance of a display. A gesture recognition processing unit recognizes the operation input by the gesture of the user based on the adjusted parameter in reference to the distance to the instruction point in the depth direction calculated by the distance calculation unit.

    Abstract: An image storage section 48 stores shot image data with a plurality of resolutions transmitted from an imaging device. Depth images 152 with a plurality of resolutions are generated using stereo images with a plurality of resolution levels from the shot image data (S10). Next, template matching is performed using a reference template image 154 that represents a desired shape and size, thus extracting a candidate area for a target picture having the shape and size for each distance range associated with one of the resolutions (S12). A more detailed analysis is performed on the extracted candidate areas using the shot image stored in the image storage section 48 (S14). In some cases, a further image analysis is performed based on the analysis result using a shot image with a higher resolution level (S16a and S16b).
