Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for providing call flow information to devices associated with call flow destinations are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for providing call flow information to a terminal device comprises receiving a communication specifying an initial destination from a calling party, and at least one of assigning the received communication to a terminal device associated with the initial destination and an alternate destination, forwarding the received communication from a terminal device associated with the initial destination to a terminal device associated with the alternate destination, or re-assigning the received communication to a terminal device associated with the alternate destination rather than with the initial destination responsive to a call set up failure. A call flow indicator is generated and transmitted to the terminal device associated with the alternate destination, the call flow indicator including an identifier of the initial destination and an identifier of the alternate destination.
Abstract:
Systems and methods allow an administrator of a conference call bridge to control who is admitted to the conference call bridge. The systems and methods also allow the administrator to identify a new individual who will become the administrator of the conference call bridge when a triggering event occurs. The systems and methods also allow an administrator to identify a new endpoint device from which valid control commands can be received.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing symbols in contact list entries are provided herein. In some embodiments, a method for controlling one or more features of a telephony system via a user device, comprises receiving a selection of a contact in a contact list to establish a communication session from the user device; parsing a dial-string associated with the contact, wherein the dial string includes an identifier and one or more symbols, and wherein the one or more symbols are associated with one or more features of the user device; translating the one or more symbols into instructions to control the one or more features; and initiating the telecommunication session based on the instructions.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of controlling the data rate used to conduct IP telephony communications may make use of historical data network conditions to predict the data rates which can be used for individual new IP telephony communications. Also, the data rates at which IP telephony communications are conducted may be restricted or lowered to avoid causing a user to exceed an allowable data usage budget. Further, when two IP telephony devices are setting up a new IP telephony communication, information about their respective data communication capabilities may be exchanged in setup messaging.
Abstract:
In one of its aspects the technology disclosed herein concerns an Internet Protocol (IP) telephony communication system (20) comprising a location server (150(13)) and a call server (52). The location server (150(13)) is configured to obtain a first virtual identifier associated with a first telephony visit associated with a customer account to a first physical location and to obtain a second virtual identifier associated with a second telephony visit associated with the customer account to a second physical location. The location server (150(13)) is configured to obtain the first virtual identifier and the second virtual identifier in coordination with an emergency answering service (58). The call server (52) is configured to provide the emergency answering service (58) with an appropriate one of the first virtual identifier and the second virtual identifier in accordance with whichever of the first physical location and the second location is an emergency location from which an emergency call associated with the customer account is placed.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for voice traffic management in a data network includes establishing a default maximum bandwidth setting at a LAN egress port when voice-type traffic is not present in a LAN portion of the data network, detecting voice-type traffic, reducing the bandwidth setting at the LAN egress port to effect a change in a rate of non voice type traffic and monitoring non voice type traffic and voice quality statistics to determine if the rate of non voice type traffic entering the data network has changed. Once the desired change has occurred, performing a linear increase of the bandwidth setting at the LAN egress port to a first value while monitoring voice quality statistics, determining if voice quality has degraded during increase of the bandwidth setting and repeating the last two steps if voice quality has not degraded.
Abstract:
A method for managing the presentation of enhanced message content includes receiving a message including an identification of one or more recipients and message content, determining, by execution of instructions by a processor, that the received message includes a tag for invoking at least one of enhanced presentation of the message content or a notification, and generating at least one of a reformatted message, wherein the reformatted message includes the message content reorganized according to the tag, or a notification, formatted according to the tag, for alerting at least one of the one or more recipient that the message relates to a particular topic or has an enhanced priority.
Abstract:
A communications adaptor comprising an adaptor first port; an adaptor second port; an adaptor third port; and a processor. The adaptor first port is configured to connect to an analog communications line. The adaptor second port is configured to connect to a data network. The adaptor third port is configured to connect to an analog telephony device. The processor is configured to determine that a first call setup request signal has been received at the adaptor first port. The processor is further configured, subsequent to such determination: (1) to transmit a second call setup request signal over the adaptor second port to an Internet Protocol (IP) telephony system over the data network; and (2) to transmit a third call setup request signal over the adaptor third port.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for selectively managing access to message content at a first display terminal are configured to display one or more messages collectively defining an exchange between a user of the first display terminal and a user of a second display terminal. The method determines, by a processor, that secure display processing should be used on at least one message of the exchange at the first display terminal, and displays message content of one or more messages of the exchange while concealing message content of the at least one message. In an embodiment, a successfully authenticated user or one who presents a required decryption code is able to view all any portion of an exchange, such as the at least one message in the context of a plurality of messages comprising a conversation.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing informative incoming call alerts are provided herein. The method includes receiving an incoming call from a second device; transmitting, to the second device, a first message regarding the incoming call; receiving, from the second device, a second message responsive to the first message regarding the incoming call; receiving a selection of one of a plurality of options based on the received second message; and processing the selected option.
