Abstract: Enhanced beam management for a wireless communication system is provided. In one example, a method comprises: receiving, from a mobile device, a message indicating first beam information for a selected first beam of beams associated with the base station device, wherein the message is a first received message of a random access channel procedure; and receiving, from the mobile device, message indicating second beam information for a selected second beam of the beams associated with the base station device, wherein the selected second beam is an alternative to the selected first beam for transmission of downlink data to the mobile device from the base station device, and wherein the second beam is indicated in the first message of a two-step random access channel procedure. Methods of signaling the second beam and/or transmission diversity approaches employing the first beam and/or the second beam are described.

Abstract: An adaptive downlink control channel structure is utilized for control channel transmission for 5G and other next generation wireless systems. Moreover, the adaptive downlink control channel structure can utilize a reduced length/size to decrease signaling overhead for each transport block. In an aspect, a first downlink control channel structure for a data transmission can be utilized to implicitly indicate redundancy version (RV) and a second downlink control channel structure for a subsequent data transmission can be utilized to explicitly indicate the RV. In another aspect, the RV can be indicative via an adaptive bit load. Further, in yet another aspect, the RV can be indicated based on a joint encoding of RV and new data indicator (NDI) information.

Abstract: Power control can be employed, whereby a power control adjustment can be determined by a relay distributed unit (DU) device, based on a measurement of the power level of received access uplink transmissions, and a measurement of the power level of a reference signal received from a donor DU via a backhaul downlink transmission. The power control adjustment can be transmitted to the donor distributed unit device, which uses the power control adjustment to reduce the amount of power of downlink transmissions to the relay distributed unit device.

Abstract: Link adaptation on downlink control channels is provided herein. A method can comprise sending, by a network device of a wireless network and comprising a processor, first data indicating a first downlink control channel to a mobile device. The first data indicating the downlink control channel can comprise a first coreset indication that comprises a first parameter used to decode the first downlink control channel at the mobile device. The method can also include determining, by the network device, a second coreset indication for the mobile device. The second coreset indication can comprise a second parameter that can be adaptively determined based on a condition of an environment determined to be associated with the mobile device.

Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for multi-stage segmentation of downlink control information. Downlink control information can arrive at a user equipment on more than one channel, setting up and configuring data channels for different base stations, or data channels for the same base station but where the data channels are in different frequency domains or time domains. The downlink control information segmentation system disclosed herein can determine when downlink control information for the user equipment is common across a plurality of downlink control channels, and ensure that the downlink control information is sent just one time, to avoid redundant data transmissions and increased overhead.

Abstract: A system facilitating compact signaling design for reserved resource configuration via a multi-dimensional bitmap is provided for a wireless communication system. A method comprises: determining a multi-dimensional bitmap (MDB) in time and frequency domains, wherein the time domain is represented by an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbol and the frequency domain is represented by an OFDM subcarrier. The determining comprises: selecting a group of reserved resource allocations of the MDB in which data information is not to be communicated; assigning a first value for the OFDM multiplexed symbol and the OFDM subcarrier according to a location of elements of the group of reserved resource allocations; and assigning, to other portions of the MDB other than the group of reserved resource allocations, a second value distinct from the first value. The method also comprises facilitating, by the device, transmitting the MDB to a mobile device.
