Abstract: A sliding door system is provided which has a support frame including vertical posts and a horizontal transom. An assembly supporting a sliding door wing is supported at the support frame and includes a running mechanism operable to carry the door wing disposed in a running mechanism housing. A drive motor assembly disposed in a drive motor assembly housing is operably connected to the running mechanism to move the door wing. The running mechanism housing and the drive motor assembly housing are disposed one behind the other in a direction transverse to the transom and door wing and are configured and dimensioned to form a parallelepiped with a vertical height fitting within a vertical height of the transom.

Abstract: The present application discloses an axial operator that is configured for use with a door assembly. The axial operator comprises a rotatable operator output member that rotates about an operator axis, the operator output member being constructed and arranged to be operatively connected within the door assembly such that the operator output axis extends generally vertically. An electric motor has a rotatable motor output member that rotates about the operator axis. The motor is constructed and arranged to selectively rotate the motor output member about the operator axis. A reduction transmission is connected between the motor output member and the operator output member. The reduction transmission is constructed and arranged such that the transmission rotates the operator output member at a lower rotational speed than a rotational speed at which the motor rotates the motor output member and applies a higher torque to the operator output member than a torque which the motor applies to the motor output member. The reduction transmission comprises (a) an orbit gear, (b) a planet gear carrier, and (c) a planet gear. The motor is adapted to be communicated to a controller so as to receive a door moving signal therefrom and being further adapted to selectively rotate the motor output member in response to receiving the door moving signal to thereby rotate the operator output member so as to move the door panel with respect to the doorway as aforesaid.

Abstract: A window actuation assembly for a vehicle which is structured to automatically lower at least one, but preferably all of the windows of a vehicle in the event that a vehicle becomes partially or totally submerged in a body of water and regardless if the orientation of the vehicle, is up-right, inverted, on its side, etc. One or more fluid sensors are located strategically throughout the various portions of the vehicle and are specifically structured activate a drive assembly for the lowering of the windows upon sensing a predetermined amount of water within an associated proximity of the vehicle, to the extent that the one or more sensors are themselves at least partially submerged. The sensors are further structured not to be activated in the unlikely event that liquid inadvertently is spilled upon or otherwise applied thereto. The one or more sensors may be associated with a single drive assembly and/or independent drive assemblies associated with each of the windows such that only one, or more preferably all of the windows may be lowered in an emergency, submerged condition of the vehicle. The windows may be restricted from being raised into the normally closed position once they have been lowered under emergency circumstances, in order to prevent inadvertent closing of the windows by an occupant of the vehicle suffering from injury or being otherwise disoriented because of the emergency.

Abstract: A hinge assembly includes a body adapted for connection to a first structure. A resilient member is in contact with the body, and a cam is pivotally movable relative to the body and adapted for connection to a second structure. Abstract: A four bar link is provided between a walled cargo area of a truck and a rigid rear cargo door. The effective length of the lower link of the four bar linkage is longer than that of the upper link such that the motion of the door is generally up and over the top of the truck body. An eccentric cam is joined to the upper link with a tensioned spring extending around the cam such that the spring slackens as the door opens. The cam is configured so that, as the door is opened, the spring slackens more slowly initially then more quickly. This allows the door to be moved initially mostly outwardly before moving significantly upwardly and still be effectively counterbalanced throughout its motion.

Abstract: A submergence detection sensor installed in a vehicle, having a control circuit board mounted on the vehicle for controlling the operation of a power window which is opened/closed by an electric motor. A pair of pad-like electrodes are installed on the control circuit board which are electrically conductive upon entry of water to generate a leak current therebetween and a submergence detection circuit is connected to one of the electrodes to receive the leak current and to compare with a threshold value to discriminate whether the vehicle submerges into water. A slot is provided in a gap between the electrodes which penetrates the control circuit board such that water present at the gap is discharged from the control circuit board, thereby enabling to effect submergence detection when the vehicle, in fact, submerges in water, while without making false detections owing to water condensation on the control circuit board or migration occurring therein. Instead of the pad-like electrodes, the sensor may use bar-like ones whose resistance is different when submerged in water or not.

Abstract: An automated garage door closing device for a remote controlled overhead garage door wherein the device is mounted on one of a pair of parallel tracks receiving rollers suitably mounted on the outer edges of the door panels, the device including a switch housing containing a switch for the leading edge of the door, and a circuit located in a second housing adjacent the garage floor and including an interval timer acting to close the door after a predetermined period of time, an audible alarm which is activated upon the garage door reaching the fully open position, a switch deactivating the entire unit when the garage door is deliberately to be left in the fully open position, and a flexible switch arm extending through the switch housing to a position to engage the upper edge of the garage door panel and acts to activate the automated closing device. A recycle delay circuit in the timing circuit acts to deactivate the unit upon interruption of the door closing operation if door movement is reversed and returned to the open position, and a sensor providing a sensor beam adjacent the garage floor to measure the time interval of interruption of the sensor beam to determine if a vehicle has exited or entered the garage or a person or animal has interrupted the beam. Abstract: An actuating device for a motor used in a power window of an automobile which can drive the motor reliably to open the window even when the automobile is submerged in water. This device has a simple configuration is relatively small and inexpensive. This activating device comprises a drive circuit for a motor which has first and second relays to allow electric current to flow so as to drive the motor in either the forward or reverse direction. The contact of the second relay, which drives the motor in one direction, is used in such a way that the contact forms a part of an electronic circuit for the magnetic coil of the first relay. When the second relay operates, the electric circuit for the magnetic coil of the first relay is closed off. This activating device can ensure that a power window will be opened even if the automobile is submerged, and the first and second relay are switched ON at the same time.
