Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and embodiments related to a technique for changing topology of a wireless network in a multi-band wireless networking system. In a wireless network with multiple wireless networking devices and one or more client devices, communications between the wireless networking devices occurs via a backhaul channel, and communication between the client(s) and the wireless networking devices occurs via a fronthaul channel. At boot up, a wireless networking device configures the wireless network with a certain topology. After the topology is initially configured, the wireless networking device determines a network-related parameter and changes the topology of the wireless network based on the network-related parameter.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and embodiments related to a technique for controlling channel usage in a wireless network in a multi-band wireless networking system. In a wireless network with multiple wireless networking devices and one or more client devices, communications between the wireless networking devices occurs via a backhaul channel, and communication between the client(s) and the wireless networking devices occurs via a fronthaul channel. Based on interference characteristics of the wireless channels, a device determines a channel usage plan, and communicates the plan via the backhaul channel to the wireless networking devices of the wireless network.

Abstract: Adjusting backhaul and fronthaul communication links of wireless mesh networks are described. A wireless mesh network has a topology including fronthaul communication links and backhaul communication links. In one aspect, characteristics of network data packets transmitted within a wireless mesh network can be identified. Based on those characteristics, the topology of the wireless mesh network can change.

Abstract: Various of the disclosed embodiments improve the operations of a combined access point/Cable modem. Though the access point component and the Cable modem component may perform operations in different spectrums, harmonics in the Cable spectrum may interfere with operations, e.g., in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz range, of the access point. Some embodiments implement a remediation and/or channel transition process for the access point following detection of Cable-related interference. During remediation, the device may, e.g., adjust the wireless power levels, EDCA backoff times, signal thresholds, etc. In some embodiments, if the remediation actions prove ineffective, the wireless peers may be relocated to a channel further from the interfering Cable harmonics. The determination to remediate or reallocate may be based on various contextual factors, e.g., the character of the peer devices and the applications being run.

Abstract: A heat sink and an EMI shield are integrated via injection molding. The heat sink and the EMI shield may be molded together as an integrated unit with an intervening non-electrically conductive layer formed between the heat sink and the EMI shield during the injection molding process. The integrated molded unit could also be molded to a thermally conductive layer comprising another material such as an elastomer suitable for more precisely conforming to the contours of an electrical component for maximizing thermal transfer. Accordingly, the number of steps and amount of materials required to provide thermal dissipation and EMI protection for an electrical component may be reduced.

Abstract: The disclosure is related to adaptive encoding of video streams from a camera. A camera system includes a camera and a base station connected to each other in a first communication network, which can be a wireless network. When a user requests to view a video from the camera, the base station obtains an encoded video stream from the camera and transmits the encoded video stream to a user device. The base station monitors multiple environmental parameters, such as network parameters, camera parameters, and system parameters of the base station, and instructs the camera to adjust the encoding of the video stream, in an event one or more environmental parameters change.

Among other benefits, this disclosure provides an integral solution where multiple wireless local area network (WLAN) mesh point devices are deployed in a relatively large environment with potential dead spots, such as a home or an office.
