    Abstract: In one embodiment, a supervisory service receives a registration message broadcast by a first vehicle and captured by a RSU in the network of RSUs. The supervisory service registers the first vehicle by validating a signature of the registration message without registering a media access control (MAC) address of the first vehicle and without causing to send a registration response to the first vehicle. The supervisory service receives a message broadcast by a second vehicle addressed to the first vehicle and captured by at least one RSU in the network of RSUs. The supervisory service selects one or more RSUs in the network of RSUs to re-broadcast the message. The supervisory service controls the one or more RSUs to re-broadcast the message.

    Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a virtual mobility anchor network element to receive, from a packet gateway (PGW) node, a request for an internet protocol (IP) address for a mobile device, establish an IP address for the mobile device; and provide the IP address to the PGW node in response to the request for the IP address for the mobile device. The virtual mobility anchor network element is configured to receive IP traffic from a network location; determine a target destination for the IP traffic based on a destination IP address, the destination IP address comprising the second IP address; and forward the IP traffic to the PGW node associated with the destination IP address. The virtual mobility anchor network element is also configured to receive IP traffic from the PGW node; determine a target destination for the IP traffic; and route the IP traffic to the target destination.

    Abstract: An example method is provided in one example embodiment and may include receiving a power saving mode (PSM) request by a long range radio, wherein the PSM request comprises an identification of at least one receive window to disable for the long range radio for a plurality of uplink transmissions and an identification of a duration for which the at least one receive window is to be disabled for the plurality of uplink transmissions; and transmitting the plurality of uplink transmissions by the long range radio, wherein the at least one receive window is disabled following each uplink transmission of the plurality of uplink transmissions by the long range radio for the duration identified in the PSM request.

    Abstract: A local mobility anchor (LMA) connected to a network receives session requests sent by first and second gateways on behalf of a mobile node seeking to establish a mobility session with the network. The LMA selects, based on a gateway selection criterion, either a first or a second gateway as active for actively handling the mobility session and the other gateway as standby. The LMA commands the active gateway to actively handle the mobility session and to configure the mobile node to use the active gateway for the mobility session. The LMA commands the standby gateway to not configure the mobile node and to operate in active standby to handle a failover of the mobility session from the primary gateway. The LMA establishes with the active gateway a first IP tunnel to be used for the mobility session.

    Abstract: An example method is provided in one example embodiment and may include receiving an attach trigger for a user equipment (UE) within a trusted access network; configuring a first signaling path for the UE for a first Internet protocol (IP) connection; and configuring a second signaling path for the UE for a second IP connection, wherein the first and second IP connections are associated with different IP version types.
