    Abstract: Asymmetric skewed rotors and an electric motor that incorporates said rotors. The rotor being are configured to rotate within a stator positioned to surround a portion of the rotors. The stator and rotors are aligned along a centerline (x). Each rotor includes an asymmetric feature, such that during operation dynamic balance results when the asymmetric feature on each rotor are aligned opposite one another perpendicular to the centerline (x) and static balance results when the asymmetric feature on each rotor are aligned opposite one another parallel to the centerline (x).

    Abstract: A ring magnet unit for an electric motor is provided, comprising a circular magnet holder and at least two magnet segments fixed to the magnet holder and arranged in a circumferential direction of the magnet holder, wherein respective one magnet segment has a first surface abutting to a surface of the magnet holder and a second surface which is the opposite surface of the first surface. Both side surfaces of the first surface and the second surface are chamfered in the directions that cross the radial direction of the magnet holder at the same angles. At least one pair of the adjacent two magnet segments comprises one magnet segment whose circumferential length of the first surface is equal to or longer than the circumferential length of the second surface and the other magnet segment whose circumferential length of the first surface is equal to or shorter than the circumferential length of the second surface.

    Abstract: Cylindrical outer and inner rotors coaxially supported so as to be rotatable, and a cylindrical stator interposed between the rotors are provided, and rotational torque is transmitted between the outer rotor and the inner rotor by interaction between: a plurality of magnets uniformly arranged on the inner circumference of the outer rotor; a plurality of magnets uniformly arranged on the outer circumference of the inner rotor; and a plurality of magnetic bodies juxtaposed at equal intervals in the circumferential direction of the stator. Rod-shaped magnetic bodies extending in the axial direction of the stator are used, and each magnetic body is placed in skew arrangement with a deviation amount in the circumferential direction corresponding to 1/12 to ¼ of the juxtaposition pitch in the circumferential direction between one axial end and the other axial end. Such arrangement can effectively reduce cogging torque, and realize stable power transmission under small torque fluctuation while ensuring high torque density.
