Abstract:
A fitting for coupling ends of cores of three insulated conductors includes an end termination placed over end portions of the three insulated conductors. The end termination includes three separate openings that pass through the end termination longitudinally. Each of the insulated conductors passes through one of the openings with end portions of the insulated conductors protruding from one side of the end termination. Exposed cores of the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude from the end termination. A cylinder is coupled to the side of the end termination from which the end portions of the insulated conductors protrude. An electrical bus is coupled to the exposed portion of the cores. Electrically insulating material fills the cylinder such that the cores are substantially enclosed in the electrically insulating material. An end cap is coupled to the cylinder to seal off the interior of the cylinder.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes an airtight shell and an absorption column arranged inside the shell. The absorption column has a multiple stage component, and a single stage component arranged below the multiple stage component with respect to gravity. A gap is arranged between the multiple stage component and the single stage component. The apparatus also includes a gas input in fluid communication with the absorption column for receiving a gas mixture, and a liquid input is in fluid communication with the absorption column for receiving a liquid mixture. A liquid-liquid separator is arranged below the absorption column with respect to gravity. The gas input is arranged below the single stage component. The liquid input is arranged above the single stage component and below the multiple stage component. A method is described for using the apparatus to remove DME from gas and liquid mixtures.
Abstract:
Low sulphur marine fuel compositions are provided. Embodiments comprise greater than 50 to 90 wt % of a residual hydrocarbon component, with the remaining 10 and up to 50 wt % selected from a non-hydroprocessed hydrocarbon component, a hydroprocessed hydrocarbon component, and a combination thereof. Embodiments of the marine fuel composition can have a sulphur content of about 0.1 wt % or less.
Abstract:
A process for converting a biomass-derived pyrolysis oil in which the pyrolysis oil is contacted with hydrogen in the presence of a certain catalyst containing one or more Group VIII metals is provided. The catalyst is prepared by (a) comulling (1) a refractory oxide, (2) a small amount of liquid, chosen such that the Loss On Ignition (LOI) at 485° C. of the mixture is from equal to or more than 20 wt % to equal to or less than 70 wt % based on the total weight of the catalyst composition, and (3) at least one or more metal component(s), which is/are at least partially insoluble in the amount of liquid used, to form a mixture, and the metal component(s) is/are one or more Group VIII metal component, (b) optionally shaping, and drying of the mixture thus obtained; and (c) calcination of the composition thus obtained to provide a calcined catalyst.
Abstract:
A method comprises providing a carbohydrate; reacting the carbohydrate with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenolysis catalyst to produce reaction products comprising an alcohol, a polyol, and a higher polyol; recycling the higher polyol through the hydrogenolysis reaction to produce reaction products comprising an alcohol and a polyol and a higher polyol; processing at least a portion of the reaction products to form a fuel blend.
Abstract:
Reduced emissions in a jet fuel having aromatics content can be achieved by incorporating a quantity of an aromatic kerosene fuel blending component, preferably a bio-derived synthetic aromatic kerosene, comprising at least 90 wt. % of aromatics, less than 10 wt. % of indanes and tetralins and less than 1 wt. % of naphthalene into a jet fuel in a manner to meet the aromatic content specification for jet fuels. A jet fuel having aromatics content having reduced number-based nvPM emissions compared to equivalent total aromatics content petroleum-derived kerosene jet fuel is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a urea fertiliser having a lignin compound and elemental sulphur dispersed through-out the fertiliser and having improved hardness.
Abstract:
A process to prepare a synthesis gas mixture comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide from a liquid hydrocarbon feedstock containing between 0.1 and 4 wt % ash comprises performing a partial oxidation on a hydrocarbon feed using a multi-orifice burner provided with an arrangement of separate co-annular passages, wherein the hydrocarbon flows through a passage of the burner, an oxidizer gas flows through a separate passage of the burner and wherein the passage for hydrocarbon feed and the passage for oxidizer gas are separated by a passage through which a moderator gas flows and wherein the exit velocity of the moderator gas is greater than the exit velocity of the oxidizer gas.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method to determine where fractures are created within a wellbore during a formation fracturing operation, the method comprising the steps of: providing at least one sensor within a carrier capable of measuring and recording a pressure difference across the carrier as a function of time; releasing the sensor into fracturing fluids; injecting fracturing fluids into a wellbore during a fracturing operation; after at least one fracture has formed, permitting fluids to flow back from the fractured formation into the wellbore and to a surface facility; capturing at least one sensor from the fluids which flowed back from the fractured formation; reading recorded data from the captured sensor; and determining the relative size of at least two different fractures based on the recorded data.
Abstract:
A variable speed drive system employing an electric motor and a frequency converter arranged between an AC power source and the electric motor is operated. The frequency converter functions to convert AC power obtained from the AC power source at a source frequency to converted power at a variable drive frequency. A mechanical assembly can be coupled to the electric motor. Electric modulation circuitry is provided interacting with the frequency converter. It is arranged to impose fluctuations, independently from any torsional excitation in the mechanical assembly and the AC power source, in the inter-harmonic frequencies of inter-harmonic currents generated in the frequency converter.
