    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently signaling configurations of physical resources and transmission parameters to a user equipment (UE) for small data transmissions (for example, data transmissions in an inactive or idle state). A base station may broadcast or multicast downlink control information (DCI) in one or more control channels that schedules data transmissions in a set of data channels. The base station may then multicast one or more configurations in each of the data channels, and a UE may decode one of the data channels to determine a configuration for a small data transmission. Because the configurations may be transmitted in the data channels in addition to system information or paging information, a base station may have access to sufficient resources to provide suitable configurations to a UE for communications in an inactive or idle state.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication using various patterns of data and reference signals are described. For example, in a system that supports operation using different duration transmission time intervals (TTIs), a base station may initiate communication with a user equipment (UE) or between two UEs, and UEs may communicate with the base station or with one another using an indicated pattern of data and reference signals. The base station may send a downlink control message indicating a transmission pattern selected from a set of patterns. UEs may identify the pattern based on the indicator and decode a sequence of data and reference signals based on the pattern. In some examples, the sequence may include a set of TTIs, which may have a shorter duration than other TTIs.

For example, the method generally includes receiving signaling indicating a first subframe configuration, the first subframe configuration corresponding to a subframe with a first number of symbols in an uplink pilot time slot (UpPTS), receiving signaling indicating a second configuration, the second configuration indicating a second number of symbols in the UpPTS, generating a frame comprising the UpPTS having the first number of symbols corresponding to the first subframe configuration, the UpPTS including one or more SRSs corresponding to the second configuration, and transmitting the frame comprising the UpPTS.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that relate to a two-step random access procedure. Generally, the described techniques allow different configurations for a first message of a random access procedure depending on a connected-state of the user equipment (UE) performing the random access procedure. A base station may transmit configuration information to the UE and the UE may use the configuration information to determine resources, coding, block size, or other factors for transmitting the first message based on the radio resource control (RRC) connected state of the UE. The UE may then monitor for a random access response from the base station based on the first message from the UE.

    Abstract: Signaling strategies for an advanced receiver with interference cancellation (IC) and suppression is discussed. Upon enablement of an advanced interference cancellation procedure according to the disclosure, transmitters within the enabled area transmit according to transmission restriction configurations that provide transmission limits based on either frequency, time, or scheduling. The restrictions on the transmitters reduces the complexity of processing by neighboring advanced receivers for cancellation of interference from the restricted transmitters. At the advanced receiver, transmission information, such as scheduling, reference signal (RS), resource block (RB) allocation, and the like, may either be determined through blind detection or received directly through signaling. The advanced receiver may use this transmission information associated with each interfering signal to detect, decode, and subtract the interfering signals from the received transmissions.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive an indication from a base station to transmit one or more sounding reference signals (SRSs) on respective component carriers (CCs). Each CC may be associated with a different numerology and the UE may determine a transmission timing between reception of the indication and transmission of each of the SRSs based on the numerology for the CC used for transmission. In some cases, the UE may determine the transmission timings based on time durations associated with each numerology, which may be based on a number of symbols for the numerology, a corresponding time between receiving the indication and transmitting uplink data (e.g., SRS), or a combination thereof. The UE may transmit, to the base station, each SRS according to the determined transmission timings.
