摘要: A sensor is mounted to or embedded in a wheel hub. The sensor node includes a power source and a sensing device that detects and monitors at least one parameter associated with the wheel hub. The sensor node also includes a communication module that communicates via wireless communication signals and a processing device in communication with the sensing device and the communication module. The processing device collects data from the sensing devices, processes the data, and based on that processing, communicates information relating to the wheel hub to a remote server or network. A mesh network of multiple sensor nodes can be applied to multiple different wheel hubs on a vehicle and communicate with a central processing device. The processing device can thus monitor performance and/or operation of each wheel hub.

摘要: In one aspect of the present disclosure, a disc brake rotor assembly is provided that includes a disc brake rotor and a wheel hub. One of the disc brake rotor and the wheel hub includes a plurality of pairs of partial keyways and the other of the disc brake rotor and the wheel hub includes intermediate partial keyways configured to fit intermediate the pairs of partial keyways to form keyways. The disc brake rotor assembly further includes a plurality of fasteners configured to be received in the keyways to secure the disc brake rotor and the wheel hub together.

摘要: A bearing seal includes a seal case, a sleeve, and a thrust bumper that is disposed between the seal case and the sleeve and that is composed of a material that is at least 90% polytetrafluoroethylene by weight. The thrust bumper has an initial axial thickness that defines a spacing between the seal case and the sleeve when the seal case and the sleeve are compressed together during assembly of the bearing seal. The thrust bumper has a modified axial thickness less than the initial axial thickness after a break-in phase of the bearing seal.

摘要: In one aspect, a wheel hub oil seal including an annular seal having a central opening to receive a vehicle spindle. The annular seal has an oil side for being contacted by oil in the wheel hub and an air side of the annular seal opposite the oil side. The annular seal has a radially outer mounting portion configured to sealingly engage an interior surface of the wheel hub. The annular seal includes a sealing member having a contact portion configured to form a dynamic seal with a running surface. The contact portion of the sealing member has an underlip pressure profile configured to pump oil toward the oil side of the annular seal upon rotation of the radially outer mounting portion of the annular seal with the wheel hub around the vehicle spindle.

摘要: In one aspect, an apparatus for retaining lubricant in a wheel hub assembly, the wheel hub assembly including a wheel hub and a spindle nut for securing the wheel hub to a vehicle spindle. The apparatus includes an annular lubricant seal, a mounting portion of the lubricant seal to be mounted to the wheel hub, a central opening of the lubricant seal to receive a running surface of the spindle nut, and a sealing portion of the lubricant seal extending around the central opening of the lubricant seal. The sealing portion is configured to form a dynamic seal with the running surface of the spindle nut and keep the lubricant from escaping between the sealing portion of the lubricant seal and the running surface of the spindle nut as the wheel hub rotates around the vehicle spindle.
