Abstract:
A transmission/reception apparatus and method for performing packet retransmission considering a channel environment in a CDMA mobile communication system. Upon receiving a retransmission request from a receiver, the apparatus and method selects a modulation type to be used according to a condition of a transmission channel, and changes the previously used puncturing pattern in order to output the proper number of coded bits for the selected modulation type.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a duplex outdoor base station utilizing a hybrid system of a high amplifier and optic antenna to communicate over both radio and optic frequencies. The base station includes: a RF front end part interfaced with an optic antenna; a receiver interface unit for transmitting the received signal to the RF front end part after amplifying a received signal; a transceiver unit for transmitting the transmitted/received signal to the RF front end part; a base station transceiver subsystem (BTS) test unit, coupled to the front end part, for performing a self-diagnosis of a BTS; and an optic antenna interface unit for connecting an optic antenna system with the receiver interface unit. This base station transceiver subsystem (BTS) is a kind of hybrid system for simultaneously operating an optic antenna and a radio frequency antenna.
Abstract:
An operating method and an apparatus according to data duplicate retransmission in a mobile communication system are provided. A method of a User Equipment (UE) according to data duplicate retransmission in a mobile communication system includes storing a Media Access Control Protocol Data Unit (MAC PDU) received from an Evolved Node B (ENB) in a soft buffer, decoding the MAC PDU, determining whether the decoding is a first successful decoding of data of the corresponding soft buffer, and determining whether to forward the decoded MAC PDU to an upper layer according to the determination result.

A pharmaceutical composition including the compound as an active ingredient, which is useful for preventing or treating metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes is disclosed. A method for preparing the compound, and a method for preventing or treating metabolic disorders, particularly diabetes, by using the compound is provided.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for locating a terminal in a broadband wireless communication system are provided. The apparatus for locating the terminal includes a candidate region determiner, a virtual location determiner, and a final location determiner. The candidate region determiner determines a candidate region of the terminal by using tag signal arrival time information of the terminal provided from a plurality of readers. The virtual location determiner determines a virtual location of the terminal in the candidate region in consideration of a propagation delay of the tag signal. The final location determiner predicts a tag signal arrival time from the virtual location and determines the virtual location as the final location if a difference between the predicted tag signal arrival time and a measured tag signal arrival time is less than or equal to a threshold value. The apparatus and method provide a less expensive and less complex locating system.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process of preparing a nanogap electrode and a nanogap device using the same, and a preparing process according to the present invention is characterized in that reduced metal is grown by reduction reaction from a metal ion in solution on the surface of a metal pattern with a predetermined shape. A method of preparing a nanogap electrode according to the present invention has an advantage that nanogap electrodes having a gap distance of 1-100 nm, which are difficult to prepare by a conventional method, can be easily prepared in a reproducible and uniform manner.
Abstract:
A DOA estimating apparatus and method in a smart antenna system using a fixed beamforming scheme are provided. An uplink weight for a received uplink signal is calculated and a projection matrix of an interference signal is generated using the uplink weight. A covariance matrix of the interference signal is generated using the projection matrix of the interference signal, and power of the received signal and power of the interference signal are calculated using the covariance matrix of the interference signal and a covariance matrix of the received signal. A DOA is estimated based on the difference between the received signal power and the interference power.
Abstract:
In an apparatus for data transmission in a communication system, a turbo encoder encodes data bits to generate systematic bits and parity bits, and a rate matcher matches the systematic bits and parity bits. A first interleaver writes the rate-matched systematic bits on a row by row basis, and performs inter-column permutation. A second interleaver writes the rate-matched parity bits on a row-by-row basis, and performs inter-column permutation. A modulator alternatively collects the permutated bits on a column by column basis from the first and second interleavers, and maps collected bits from the first and second interleavers onto one modulation symbol, wherein a size of the first interleaver is equal to a size of the second interleaver.
Abstract:
A spring for motors and an optical disk drive having a motor with such a spring are disclosed. The spring consists of a shaft-hooking part (102) held by the rotating shaft of a motor (M), a rear hooking part (104) held at the rear end surface of the motor, and an elastic connecting part (106) extending between the two hooking parts to connect them to each other.
Abstract:
A high temperature superconductor bearing is disclosed which provide a strong levitation force and thus enable the construction of a horizontal-axle flywheel energy storage system. The bearing includes a magnet journal made of high temperature superconductor films, and a stator formed of a plurality of high temperature superconductors installed opposite to the high temperature superconductor magnet journal or the magnet journal for thereby off-setting the force such as the weight applied to the rotor using a magnetic pressure.
