Abstract:
An apparatus (10) for forming a single extrudable food stream such as a cooked cereal dough into a plurality of differently colored and/or flavored dough streams is disclosed including an extruder (12) having screw augers (15) for advancing a plastic food mass, a head or manifold (118) for dividing the plastic food mass into a plurality of substreams each in turn in fluid communication with a plurality of sub-divided dough passageways, and a die head (30) having a plurality of die ports (40). Each subpassage is separately supplied an additive and has disposed therein a multiplicity of in-line static mixer elements (59) to admix the additive into the substreams of the plastic food mass before passage through the die ports (40). In a preferred form, first and second substreams are intermixed in a non-homogenous manner before reaching the exit ports (40). The extrudates are severed into individual pieces (158) by a rotary cutter (36).

Abstract:
A cable drum assembly for a power drive assembly for a vehicle sliding door, the cable drum assembly comprising: a first drum configured for use as a front drum or a rear drum of the cable drum assembly, the first drum having a first plurality of locating holes; and a second drum configured for use as a front drum or a rear drum of the cable drum assembly, the second drum having a second plurality of locating holes, the first plurality of locating holes have a first pair of locating holes configured to align with a first pair of location holes of the second plurality of locating holes when the first drum is used as a rear drum of the drum assembly and the second drum is used as a front drum of the drum assembly and the second plurality of locating holes have a second pair of locating holes configured to align with a second pair of location holes of the first plurality of locating holes when the first drum is used as a front drum of the drum assembly and the second drum is used as a rear drum of the drum assembly.
Abstract:
A cable drive unit for opening and closing a sliding door on a vehicle (not shown) has a cup-shaped front drum having a helical front cable groove and a rear cup-shaped drum having a helical rear cable groove. The front drum is rotated about a longitudinal axis in a first direction to open the sliding door. The rear drum is partially nested in the front drum and rotated about the longitudinal axis in an opposite direction to close the sliding door. The front drum and the rear drum are drivingly connected to each other via a tension spring that biases the front drum and the rear drum in opposite directions when in tension. The front and rear drums are rotated by a concentric clutch that is nested in the rear drum. The clutch includes a drive member that is drivingly connected to the front drum via a first lost motion connection and drivingly connected to the rear drum via a second lost motion connection. The first drum has an arcuate slot forming part of the first lost motion connection, the rear drum has an arcuate slot forming part of the second lost motion connection, and the drive member has a tab that projects through both arcuate slots to form part of the first lost motion connection and part of the second lost motion connection.
Abstract:
A fire hydrant having a valve seat flange with an integral liner. In one embodiment, the fire hydrant includes a valve seat flange disposed between a standpipe and a hydrant shoe. The valve seat flange includes a standpipe neck defining internal threads to directly connect to the standpipe and a base flange to directly connect to the hydrant shoe. The liner includes an outer peripheral edge that is entrapped within the valve seat flange and an inner circumferential surface defining threads for receiving the valve seat of a valve assembly. The present invention also discloses a process of manufacturing a valve seat flange, including the steps of: (a) manufacturing the liner, (b) incorporating the liner into a core with the outer peripheral region of the liner exposed, (c) placing the integral core/liner into the valve seat flange mold and (d) forming the valve seat flange around the liner with the valve seat flange entrapping the outer peripheral region of the liner.
Abstract:
The root deflector has a split collar for installation around a root ball. The collar has a peripheral skirt for location beneath ground level which skirt has on its interior face guide faces on internal projections which direct root growth impinging thereon downwardly. The ends of the collar at the split line may be secured together by a snap engaging clip and the collar has a shoulder for location at ground level and over which a lawn mower may run for cutting grass adjacent to the collar. The collar may be formed of molded plastics.
Abstract:
A vehicle power liftgate cable drive has a cable drive housing. An electric motor with a motor housing and an output shaft is secured to the cable drive housing. A clutch pack with a first clutch driven by the output shaft and a second clutch driven by the first clutch, is mounted in the cable drive housing. One of the clutches in the clutch pack is a one way clutch and the other clutch is an electromagnetic clutch. A pinion gear is driven by the second clutch. An output gear is rotatably journaled on a fixed shaft and driven by the pinion gear. The cable drum is attached to the output gear. A coil spring has one end fixed to the fixed shaft and its other end attached to the cable drum. The fixed shaft is rotated to preload the coil spring in a direction that tends to wind a cable on the cable drum and then the fixed shaft is fastened to the cable drive housing. A cable is attached to the cable drum and to the liftgate. A solenoid plunger cooperates with the output gear to stop the liftgate in an intermediate position.
