Abstract: Provided is a guide wire having a novel structure, with which it is possible to improve production efficiency and to effectively prevent large irregularities from forming on an outer circumferential surface of a core wire. Further provided is a guide wire having a novel structure, with which it is possible to more meticulously set bending rigidity to a distal end portion thereof. In a guide wire having a coil externally mounted about a distal end portion of a core wire, a proximal end portion of the coil is integrally joined to the core wire during formation of the coil. Furthermore, in a guide wire having a coil externally mounted about a distal end portion of a core wire, a cross-sectional shape of a wire that constitutes the coil varies in a lengthwise direction of the coil.

Abstract: To provide a new balloon catheter enabling formation of, with high dimensional accuracy and excellent shape adaptability with respect to a balloon, an additional structure such as a blade and a reinforcement member to be additionally provided to the balloon. In this balloon catheter 10 provided with an expandable/contractible balloon 14 on the distal end side of a catheter 12, an additional structure 36 having a prescribed pattern is formed through electroforming or the like directly onto an inner circumferential surface 34 and/or an outer circumferential surface 82 of the balloon 14.

Abstract: Provided is a method for aiding diagnosis of a neurodegenerative disease in a subject with a light physical burden. The method for aiding diagnosis of the neurodegenerative disease, comprising: a first assessment step of assessing a risk of the neurodegenerative disease based on an amount of homocysteine acid in a biological sample obtained from the subject; a second assessment step of assessing a risk of the neurodegenerative disease based on an amount of an inflammatory factor, a pituitary gland secretion, or an autonomic nerve secretion in the biological sample obtained from the subject or based on a measured value obtained from a brain image of the subject; and a step of determining whether the subject has the neurodegenerative disease based on the results of the first assessment and the second assessment.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a PTP sheet for pharmaceutical drug packaging from which a solid pharmaceutical drug is easily taken out and in which a pocket portion is hard to be accidentally damaged. The PTP sheet has a first sheet from which a pocket portion capable of housing a solid pharmaceutical drug protrudes to the side of an upper surface and a second sheet which is stuck to a lower surface of the first sheet and which closes an opening of the pocket portion. The pocket portion has a peripheral wall portion having a peripheral surface continuous with the upper surface and a top portion having a top surface continuous with the peripheral surface of the peripheral wall portion. A wall thickness of the peripheral wall portion is smaller than a wall thickness of the top portion.

Abstract: To provide a blood treatment filter device capable of efficiently utilizing a blood treatment filter.A blood treatment filter device 20 has a filter sheet 26 through which a specific component among components forming blood is harder to pass than other components and a spacer sheet 27 through which the specific component is easier to pass than through the filter sheet 26. The filter sheet 26 has filter through-holes 39 disposed at intervals. The filter sheet 26 and the spacer sheet 27 are spirally wound in an overlapped state. The filter device 20 has seals 31 sealing both end portions in the longitudinal direction of a wound body 25 formed by the filter sheet 26 and the spacer sheet 27 which are spirally wound in a fluid-tight manner. The outer peripheral surface of the wound body 25 is formed by the filter sheet 26.

Abstract: A sheet-like hemostatic material is provided with: an adhesive layer which serves as an affixing surface to a bleeding site and which is formed from at least poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA); and a covering layer which is a sheet formed from at least one biodegradable material (covering material) other than γ-PGA, and which serves as an opposite surface to the affixing surface. At least one of the adhesive layer and the covering layer is a single sheet. If the adhesive layer is a single sheet, the adhesive layer should be a sponge-like sheet, and if the adhesive layer is a partial layer, the adhesive layer should be a sponge-like sheet or a nonporous layer. Alternatively, in another sheet-like hemostatic material, a sheet which is formed from at least poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) and to which at least one of a saccharide and collagen has been added is provided as the adhesive layer.

Abstract: A microcapsule contains a biodegradable polymer and risperidone and has a sustained release property. The biodegradable polymer contained in the microcapsule has a molecular weight corresponding to 85% or more of an initial molecular weight (Mw) of the biodegradable polymer. A method of producing the microcapsule is also disclosed. The method of producing a microcapsule has (A) a step of preparing a first phase by mixing a solution of a biodegradable polymer and a solution of risperidone which are prepared separately, (B) a step of, immediately after the preparation of the first phase, mixing the first phase with a second phase being an aqueous phase to prepare an emulsion, and (C) a step of subjecting the resulting emulsion to in-water drying.
