Abstract: Some embodiments of this disclosure include systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media for the reduction of handover interruptions. Some embodiments include a user equipment (UE) that supports simultaneous connectivity with a source 5G Node B (gNB) and a target gNB during a handover. Some embodiments include the UE receiving source path data packets from the source gNB and target path data packets from a target gNB. The UE performs a first reorder of the one or more source path data packets and the one or more target path data packets by sequence number (SN), and the UE performs header decompression on the reordered source path data packets, separately from the reordered target path data packets. After the header decompressions the UE performs a second reorder of the source path data packets and the target path data packets together by SN, and discards any duplicate data packets based on SNs.

Abstract: Embodiments of a User Equipment (UE) to support dual-connectivity with a Master Evolved Node-B (MeNB) and a Secondary eNB (SeNB) are disclosed herein. The UE may receive downlink traffic packets from the MeNB and from the SeNB as part of a split data radio bearer (DRB). At least a portion of control functionality for the split DRB may be performed at each of the MeNB and the SeNB. The UE may receive an uplink eNB indicator for an uplink eNB to which the UE is to transmit uplink traffic packets as part of the split DRB. Based at least partly on the uplink eNB indicator, the UE may transmit uplink traffic packets to the uplink eNB as part of the split DRB. The uplink eNB may be selected from a group that includes the MeNB and the SeNB.

Abstract: Beamforming measurement techniques based on PSS/SSS are disclosed. An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to decode a configuration message from a source serving cell, the configuration message indicating signal selection criteria for cell measurement reporting. A synchronization signal (SS) burst set associated with one or more transmission/reception points (TRPs) within a neighboring cell is decoded, the SS burst set including a plurality of SS blocks. A cell beamforming measurement signal associated with the neighboring cell is generated, based on signal measurements of the SS blocks and the signal selection criteria. A radio resource management (RRM) measurement report message is encoded for transmission to the serving cell, the measurement report message including the cell beamforming measurement signal. A handover command message for initiating a handover to the neighboring cell is decoded, the handover command based on the cell beamforming measurement signal.

Abstract: Technology for a relay user equipment (UE) operable to act as a relay between a remote UE and an eNodeB is disclosed. The relay UE can receive, from the eNodeB, a relay configuration message that includes one or more relay configuration parameters. The relay UE can identify relay UE information associated with one or more relay parameters of the relay UE. The relay UE can determine to act as the relay for the remote UE based on the one or more relay configuration parameters and the relay UE information. The relay UE can transmit a discovery message to the remote UE in order to establish a direct connection between the relay UE and the remote UE, wherein the relay UE is configured to relay data from the eNodeB to the remote UE via the direct connection between the relay UE and the remote UE.

Abstract: An apparatus of a user equipment (UE) can include processing circuitry configured to encode capability information for transmission within a serving cell of an evolved Node-B (eNB), the capability information indicating the UE supports per UE network controlled small gap (NCSG) operation. A request message is encoded to request a per UE NCSG on a first frequency associated with the serving cell. Configuration information received in response to the request message can be decoded, the configuration information including a NCSG configuration for the NCSG on the first frequency. Measurements can be performed on a second frequency during a measurement gap, the measurement gap configured based on the NCSG configuration. A network message is decoded in response to the capability information, the network message including an indication of the request message for requesting the per UE NCSG on the first frequency.

Abstract: Embodiments of a next generation Node-B (gNB), User Equipment (UE) and methods for communication are generally described herein. A gNB may be configurable to operate as a master gNB (MgNB). The MgNB may transmit radio-resource control (RRC) signaling to provide information for dual connectivity to allow the UE to utilize radio resources of both a master cell group (MCG) associated with the MgNB and a secondary cell group (SCG) associated with a secondary gNB (SgNB). The MgNB may transmit, to the SgNB, an SgNB release request message that indicates a partial suspension of the dual connectivity, wherein: a first portion of a configuration for the SCG is to be maintained and a second portion of the configuration for the SCG is to be released.

Abstract: A mobile communication device includes a table component, a table selection component, a control information component, and a communication component. The table component is configured to maintain two or more tables each having entries for a plurality of available modulation schemes. The table selection component is configured to select a selected table from one of the default table and the secondary table based on one or more of RRC layer signaling and MAC layer signaling and further based based on a control information format for control information received from the eNB. The control information component is configured to receive control information indicating a modulation and coding scheme from the selected table, and the communication component is configured to receive and process a communication from the eNB based on the modulation and coding scheme from the selected table.

Abstract: Techniques, apparatus and methods are disclosed that enable non-adaptive Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) retransmission using SPS resources. Non-adaptive HARQ retransmission can be enabled in a configured Uplink (UL) resource (such as SPS resources). As it may not be beneficial to allow non-adaptive HARQ retransmission on SPS resources for all kinds of traffic, options for proper configuration can be provided either by network signaling or by predefined configurations. For example, embodiments are described to enable non-adaptive retransmission using SPS resources: Always allow non-adaptive retransmission on configured UL grants; Allow non-adaptive retransmission on configured UL grants only for certain predefined conditions; Allow non-adaptive HARQ retransmissions when there is no data in the UL buffer for new transmission; Enable non-adaptive retransmissions using a configurable boolean parameter; Enable non-adaptive retransmissions using a configurable threshold parameter; and Enable non-adaptive retransmissions using a configuration sent using a system information broadcast.
