摘要： There is provided an image display viewing system including an image display device including a signal control portion that receives input of an image signal and outputs a signal that causes each of multiple different images to be displayed at least twice consecutively, and a display panel to which the signal output from the signal control portion is input and which alternately displays each of the multiple different images at least twice consecutively, and an optical modulator including a liquid crystal layer on which an image having a predetermined polarization direction output from the image display device and external light having random polarization are incident, and which periodically changes the polarization direction of the incident light, and a polarizing plate on which light emitted from the liquid crystal layer is incident and which has a polarization axis in a predetermined direction.

摘要： Provided are an image processing method, an image processing device, an image processing circuit, and an image display unit that allow occurrence of a crosstalk to be reduced. When an image signal Din is input, the image signal Din is converted into an image signal D′in with a narrower dynamic range based on a lookup table (53A) on a dynamic range control section (51). At this time, the dynamic range of the image signal D′in is set up to an extent of avoiding saturation in an overdrive correction. Subsequently, an image signal Dout is generated by performing the overdrive correction for the image signal D′in using the lookup table (53A) on an overdrive control section (52).

摘要： An image display device includes a display panel that periodically displays different images, a shutter control portion that generates timing signals for driving shutters for a right eye and a left eye, in synchronization with the periodical display of the display panel, with respect to glasses for viewing images, the glasses being provided with the shutters for the right and left eye, a backlight that includes a light guide plate of a size corresponding to a display area of the display panel and light sources that are provided on two opposing side faces of the light guide plate and that irradiates the display panel from a rear side of the display panel, and a backlight control portion that causes the respective light sources that are provided on the two opposing side faces to blink at different timings during an opening period of the shutters.

In the invention, right and left parallax image data is compressed, the compressed image data is stored in a frame memory, each of compressed image data for a right eye and compressed image data for a left eye, corresponding to the same display gate line, is read and decoded, line by line, and parallax image data for the right and left eyes for one frame are displayed multiple times, as alternating right and left fields, within one frame period.

摘要： The present invention is directed to provide a driving circuit and driving method for a LCD having high performance of moving image displaying within few amount of memory and downscaled circuit. In the present invention, a voltage applied to a pixel to drive liquid crystal material in the pixel is determined as a voltage with which the transparency of the pixel at the end of the current field becomes the designated transparency. To determine the voltage, a data table for quick response in which output data is stored in correspondence with some of the possible value of a preceding field image data and some of the possible value of the current field image data is employed, and the output data corresponding to the preceding field image data and the current field image data is determined by the data table through linear interpolation. The voltage corresponding to the output data is applied to the pixel.

摘要： A compact and light weight front light, a reflective liquid crystal display device, and a personal digital assistant providing an image display of uniform brightness with high efficiency are provided. The front light includes a main optical guide plate and a second optical guide plate. The second optical guide plate is arranged at an end of the main optical guide plate along the widthwise direction, and, on an end surface opposite an end surface facing the main optical guide plate, grooves forming prisms are aligned along the longitudinal direction, extending in the depth direction. The front light further includes a point light source arranged at an end, in the longitudinal direction, of the second optical guide plate, and a reflective film covering the surfaces of the grooves.

摘要： A backlight provides uniform emanating light for a liquid crystal display. In the backlight, light emitted from a light source is incident on a receiving end surface of a light guide plate and emanates through a top surface toward a liquid crystal panel. A bottom surface includes a reflecting hollow wedge extending along the receiving end surface and varying in depth, as measured from the bottom surface, in correspondence with distance from the end surface. A dividing flat portion orthogonal to the reflecting hollow wedge divides the reflecting hollowed portion, and an output surface includes a prism having parallel ridges extending in a direction orthogonal to the receiving end surface.
