    摘要: A high-efficiency, wide-angle illumination surgical system is disclosed, one embodiment comprising: a light source for providing a light beam; an optical cable, optically coupled to the light source for receiving and transmitting the light beam; a handpiece, operably coupled to the optical cable; an optical fiber, operably coupled to the handpiece, wherein the optical fiber is optically coupled to the optical cable to receive and transmit the light beam; an optical element, optically coupled to a distal end of the optical fiber, for receiving the light beam and scattering the light beam to illuminate an area, wherein the optical element comprises a compound parabolic concentrator (“CPC”) cone; and a cannula, operably coupled to the handpiece, for housing and directing the optical fiber and the optical element. The optical element can be a small-gauge, diffusive optical element comprising a sculpted distal end of the optical fiber or a machined or injection-molded plastic CPC-cone. For example, the optical element can be a 19, 20 or 25 gauge optical element. The CPC-cone optical element angularly spreads the light beam out to a high off-axis angle and emits the light out of the distal end of the cannula with high efficiency.

    摘要: An RFID ring illumination system includes an illumination ring and a printed circuit board. The illumination ring has a light refracting layer integral with the front of a surgical machine. The printed circuit board is located behind and close to the front of the surgical machine. The printed circuit board has an RFID reader antenna and a light source mounted on it. The light emitted by the light source travels through the illumination ring and is visible from the front of the surgical machine.

The polarization rotating retarder film is configured to impart a substantially halfwave retardance to internally reflected light that passes twice therethrough.

    摘要: A remote controlled locking system employing a holographic window display, particularly adapted for vehicle use. The system includes a remotely-operated transmitter for transmitting locking and unlocking signals, and a locking mechanism that is locked and unlocked in response to the transmitted signals. The locking mechanism outputs a status signal or status signals, corresponding to at least one of the locking and unlocking signals. Control electronics process the status signals from the locking mechanism to provide control signals that are coupled to first and second light emitting members, such as LED arrays. The light emitting members produce light output signals in response to the control signals. First and second prism couplers are attached to a surface of a window and are optically coupled to the first and second light emitting members. First and second hologram decals that comprise the holographic window display are attached to the surface of the window and are responsive to the light output signals. The first and second hologram decals respectively display first and second visible messages indicative of whether the locking mechanism is locked and unlocked. If only one status message is to be displayed, then the second set of components is not required, namely the second light emitting member, second input coupler, and second image hologram decal.

    摘要: A recording medium has a first fringe pattern which is described by a first spectral bandwidth and a first image blur factor. The recording medium also has a second fringe pattern which is described by a second spectral bandwidth and a second image blur factor, the first spectral bandwidth being different from the second spectral bandwidth, and the first image blur factor being substantially equal to the second image blur factor. By providing multiple holograms in the single recording medium, the spectral bandwidths of each hologram are combined to provide an overall spectral bandwidth. Since the image blur factors of each hologram are substantially the same, i.e., overlap, when the two holograms are combined, the overall image blur factor is not increased. Indeed, it decreases at the same time the thickness of the recording medium is increased by a factor which is equivalent to the number of exposure in the single recording medium. The result is increased bandwidth without a concomitant increase in image blur.
