摘要： A vehicle lighting device includes first and second light sources and a light guide lens that is elongate and extending along a direction oblique to a front-back direction of a vehicle. The first light source faces with a back end portion of the lens in a longitudinal direction of the lens. The second light source is arranged close to a front end portion of the lens in the longitudinal direction to emit light toward a back surface of the lens. The lens has a plurality of cut portions in the back surface. The cut portions are arranged parallel with each other in the longitudinal direction, internally reflect the light emitted from the first light source and enters the lens through the back end portion to a forward direction of the vehicle, and refract the light emitted from the second light source and enters the lens to the forward direction.

摘要： A rear indicator device for an automobile arranged inwardly of and adjacent to a rear window. The device includes a light guide plate 2, a hologram 2 arranged in the light guide plate 2 and an irregular shaped prism having a first section having an apex angle .phi.1 at which the light beam from a light source 5 is subjected to a refraction so that the light beam is flattened. The flattened beam is again introduced into the prism at a second section which is in face to face contact with the light guide plate 2, so that the light beam is transmitted inside the light guide plate 2 toward the hologram 3, whereat the light beam is introduced into the hologram at a predetermined angle of incidence, so that a horizontal light beam of a predetermined wave length is obtained in a rear direction of the automobile to indicate the braking of the automobile.

摘要： A device for providing large area uniform illumination of display panels comprises a light transmitting member including a light receiver for receiving light from a light source and reflecting that light within the light transmitting member in at least a first direction parallel to a first axis and parallel to the plane of the light transmitting member. A plurality of first reflectors reflect a first portion of the light from the first direction to an exit direction orthogonal to the plane of the light transmitting member and reflect a second portion of the light from the first direction to a second direction parallel to the plane of the light transmitting member and parallel to a second axis that is perpendicular to the first axis. A plurality of second light reflectors reflect the light from the second direction to the exit direction.

摘要： A light expanding system for converting a light beam generated from a point-like light source into a collimated linear or planar light beam is disclosed herein. According to an embodiment of the invention, a system for producing a linear light beam includes a beam collector and a light pipe adjacent to which a multiplicity of specially configured microprisms are located. The light expanding system according to this embodiment is suitable for use in devices utilizing a linear light beam, such as a scanner. According to another embodiment of the invention, a system for producing a planar light beam includes, in addition to the beam collector and light pipe described above, an additional light pipe with adjacent microprisms. The light expanding system according to this embodiment of the invention can be used, for example, in displays, road signs, medical research equipment, instrument meters or jewelry; to light pictures or art work; or as part of a see-through lighting system far use in dentistry and surgery.
