摘要: Systems and methods for detecting efforts to thwart discovery of a thing, the methods including: using a detector system in an area to detect a reaction product of a thing with descenter; producing with the detector system a detected reaction product level; comparing the detected reaction product level to a normal level of the reaction product in the area; and upon determining that the detected reaction product level is different from the normal level, providing an indication of possible presence of the thing based on said different level.

摘要: In accordance with one aspect of the present invention, a cantilever of a probe-based instrument is deflected by directing a beam of ultrasonic acoustic energy at the cantilever to apply acoustic radiation pressure to the cantilever. The energy is generated by an acoustic actuator. The transmitted beam preferably is focused using a cylindrical lens, providing a beam tightly focused in one dimension and unfocused in a second dimension. In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, a power source such as an RF signal generator is operated so as to spread the spectrum of acoustic radiation on a time scale that is short or comparable to the acoustic roundtrip time. Such a design diminishing the resonance effects and sensitivity to spacing between the cantilever and the acoustic source.

摘要: Techniques for obtaining an ejection rate independent, spatial relationship between an acoustic focal area and the free surface of a liquid. Variations in the spatial relationship are reduced or eliminated by applying substantially the same acoustic energy to the liquid's free surface during periods when droplets are not ejected as when they are, but at power levels insufficient to eject a droplet. During ejection periods in which a droplet is not ejected, the acoustic energy is applied at a lower level, but for a longer time. Because it is more convenient to measure and control, the transducer drive voltage is used to control the acoustic energy applied to the liquid's free surface.

摘要: A system for scanning a room to find the location of target devices, and then locking onto them with stationary directed beams for two-way communication. In one embodiment, a base system in each room comprises an IR source/receiver combination plus an LCD display panel which covers the source/receiver and is addressed in such a way as to open up dynamic apertures through which IR radiation in a scanning mode can be directed toward any particular location in the room. When a device at that location senses that it is being irradiated by the base station, the targeted device responds by emitting a coded packet of IR pulses. This system takes advantage of the higher bandwidth communication that can be obtained with point-to-point communications, while still allowing for multiple devices at arbitrary locations in the same room.

摘要: An ejector for ejecting droplets from an ink-filled reservoir is disclosed. The ejector comprises a substrate with a generally planar surface. The substrate is submerged in the reservoir so that the substrate surface is parallel to the reservoir surface at a shallow predetermined depth. On the substrate surface around a center is a plurality of concentric, circular electrodes. A coupled oscillator excites the electrodes in a temporal relationship such that the capillary waves generated at the ink reservoir surface are reinforced so that droplets may be ejected from the reservoir at the center of the electrodes.

摘要: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices, systems, and methods for treating microorganisms within an enclosure. The enclosure can be operably coupled to an oxidant source such that oxidant discharged by the oxidant source is disposed within an internal volume defined by the enclosure. The oxidant can modify the microorganisms within the internal volume to render the microorganisms harmless or inert. The oxidant source can discharge a first quantity of oxidant over a first duration of time and subsequently discharge a second lesser quantity of oxidant over a second duration of time to limit the concentration of oxidant to which items within the enclosure are exposed. This process can be repeated for a predetermined duration of time until the microorganisms within the enclosure are sufficiently treated and without damaging the enclosure or items disposed within the enclosure.

摘要: Embodiments disclosed herein relate to air flow control blinds or tents useful for controlling scents emitted therefrom. The air flow control blinds can include walls, a roof, windows in the walls, and at least one directional vent disposed on the walls, where the at least one directional vent includes an inlet on the inner surface of the blind and an outlet fluidly connected to the inlet, the outlet facing downward on the outer surface of the blind to direct fluids flowing therethrough towards the ground. The air flow control blinds may include one or more roof vents adjacent to the walls on the roof. The air flow control blind includes at least one oxidant generator mount on one or more of the roof or the walls to mount an oxidant generator thereon. Blind systems can include a portable oxidant generator positioned in the blind.
