Abstract: A multi-layer structure comprising: a) at least one layer comprising a polyolefin component comprising i) 60 to 94 weight percent of a first component selected from the group consisting of ethylene homopolymer, ethylene copolymer, polypropylene homopolymer, polypropylene copolymer, and combinations thereof ii) 0-35 weight percent of a functional polymer component, and iii) 1-35 weight percent of a compatibilizer component comprising an anhydride and/or carboxylic acid functionalized ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer having a melt viscosity (177° C.) less than, or equal to, 200,000 cP and a density from 0.855 to 0.94 g/cc; b) at least one tie layer comprising maleic-anhydride grafted polymer with a melt index of less than 50 dg/min, wherein the tie layer does not contain the compatibilizer component; and c) at least one polar layer comprising a polar polymer, is disclosed.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a process. In an embodiment, the process includes providing pellets of a regrind material. The regrind material is a post-consumer recycle multilayer film (PCR multilayer film) having at least three layers. The PCR multilayer film is composed of (i) a polyethylene layer, (ii) a polyamide layer, and (iii) a tie layer. The tie layer is composed of maleic anhydride grafted substantially linear ethylene polymer (MAH-g-SLEP) having a Mw/Mn from 1.5 to less than 3.5 and a melt index from 0.5 g/10 min to less than 25 g/10 min. The process includes extruding the pellets to form an extrudate, molding the extrudate, and forming, with the extrudate, a molded article having a surface. The surface of the molded article has a surface roughness value, Sa, less than 1000 nm and a root mean square roughness value, Sq, less than 1400 nm.

The resin includes a first polyolefin grafted with an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, an ethylenically unsaturated acid derivative or a combination thereof, and having a density of 0.857 to 0.885 g/cm3, and 0.001 to 0.20 weight percent (wt. %) of a catalyst comprising at least one Lewis acid, where the resin includes the catalyst and up to 99.999 wt. % of the first polyolefin, where the wt. % is based on a total weight of the resin.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a bicomponent fiber that includes a first region formed of a condensation polymer and a second region formed from a polyethylene blend. The polyethylene blend includes (i) an ethylene-based polymer having a density of 0.920 g/cm3 to 0.970 g/cm3 and a melt index, I2, as determined by ASTM D1238 at 190° C. and 2.16 kg of 0.5 to 150 g/10 minutes; (ii) a maleic anhydride-grafted polyethylene; and (iii) an inorganic Brønsted-Lowry acid having an acid strength pKa value at 25° C. of 1 to 6.5, wherein the polyethylene blend has a 0.03 to 0.5 weight percent of grafted maleic anhydride based on the total weight of the polyethylene blend. The first region is a core region of the bicomponent fiber and the second region is a sheath region of the bicomponent fiber, where the sheath region surrounds the core region.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a flexible pouch. In an embodiment, the flexible pouch includes a first layer structure and a second layer structure. Each layer structure includes (i) an inner liner and (ii) an outer sheath. The first layer structure is superimposed on the second layer structure such that the inner liners oppose each other. The first layer structure superimposed upon the second layer structure defines a common peripheral edge. Each inner liner is composed of a flexible film of a polymeric material. Each outer sheath is composed of a post-consumer recycle (PCR) polymer material. The PCR polymer material has a GI200 value greater than 50. The flexible pouch includes a peripheral seal. The peripheral seal extends along at least a portion of the common peripheral edge. The peripheral seal seals the first layer structure to the second layer structure.
