Abstract:
A system and method for processing a plurality of data storage and retrieval management or manifest files in a virtual data storage system. A plurality of individual management/manifest files, which are each used to track data management information stored on a data storage device, are merged into a single management or manifest file that can then be used to subsequently manage the input or import of data such as logical volumes from one or more physical media. This single management/manifest file could be used, for example, in a media import operation for importing a media cartridge or device into a media library such as a data storage library.
Abstract:
A medical instrument includes a sound card or an internal capability for generating sounds from a digital music or sound file. The medical instrument is one which generates unwanted noise and is constantly in the presence of a patient or an operator, and may be in a home, a clinic, a laboratory, or other intimate setting. For instance, a patient may be typically connected for hours to a hemodialysis machine that has a noisy pump. A blood-plasma volunteer may be hooked to a noisy blood separation machine for a period of time. A laboratory technician may work in close proximity to a sample preparation machine that constantly gurgles and whirrs. In each instance, a sound card and a speaker can generate previously-recorded masking noises that make that the presence and operation of the machine more tolerable.
Abstract:
A method for aligning a disposable cassette within a dialysis machine includes actuating a pump head toward the disposable cassette and to contact a pumping portion of the disposable cassette and shift the disposable cassette if need be into proper operational alignment and locking the disposable cassette in place.
Abstract:
A method of surface pasteurizing precooked food products which are contained in packages. The method preferably comprises the steps of continuously heating the packages of the precooked food product such that the outer surfaces of the products contained within the packages are taken to an effective pasteurization temperature and then continuously cooling the packages of product. The heating and cooling steps are preferably conducted in a manner such that no more than a 10° temperature increase and preferably substantially no temperature increase occurs in the internal core of the product as a result of the heating step.
Abstract:
According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for fabricating a MIM capacitor in a semiconductor die includes a step of depositing a first interconnect metal layer. The method further includes depositing a high-k dielectric layer comprising AlNX (aluminum nitride) on the first interconnect layer. The method further includes depositing a layer of MIM capacitor metal on the high-k dielectric layer. The method further includes etching the layer of MIM capacitor metal to form an upper electrode of the MIM capacitor. According to this exemplary embodiment, the first interconnect metal layer, the high-k dielectric layer, and the layer of MIM capacitor metal can be deposited in a PVD process chamber. The method further includes etching the high-k dielectric layer to form a MIM capacitor dielectric segment and etching the first interconnect metal layer to form a lower electrode of the MIM capacitor.
Abstract:
A vertical rack used for the placement and storage of a musical conductor's batons so as to minimize or prevent baton shaft from becoming warped when stored in a flat or horizontal position. The said rack having a base 12 of sufficient thickness and width or diameter to support rack without tipping over. A decorative machined spindle 16 attached into the base 12 and the top 20 and of sufficient height to accommodate various lengths of batons in a suspended vertical position while preventing the baton shaft from touching the base 12 surface. A top 20 of adequate diameter or width to allow several baton shafts to pass through and be supported by their handles. Clear plastic tubes 24 affixed into the top of riser 14 and into the lower surface of the top 20 which allows the baton shaft to pass through affording additional protection.
Abstract:
According to one exemplary embodiment, an NPN bipolar transistor comprises a base layer situated over a collector, where the base layer comprises an intrinsic base region and an extrinsic base region. The NPN bipolar transistor may be, for example, an NPN silicon-germanium heterojunction bipolar transistor. The base layer can be, for example, silicon-germanium. According to this exemplary embodiment, the NPN bipolar transistor further comprises a cap layer situated over the base layer, where a portion of the cap layer is situated over the extrinsic base region, and where the portion of the cap layer situated over the extrinsic base region comprises an indium dopant. The cap layer may be, for example, polycrystalline silicon. According to this exemplary embodiment, the NPN bipolar transistor may further comprise an emitter situated over the intrinsic base region. The emitter may be, for example, polycrystalline silicon.
Abstract:
A method of mounting an instrument probe using an adapter post is provided. The method includes coupling an attachment end of the adapter post to a first wall defined between a cavity and an annulus, coupling an opposite sealing end of the adapter post to a second wall defined between the annulus and the ambient area, sealing the adapter post to compensate for a relative movement between the first wall and the second wall such that the sealing is maintained, and inserting the instrument probe at least partially within the adapter post to monitor a process parameter within the cavity.
Abstract:
A freeze-crusting process and a vertical freezing apparatus preferred for use in the inventive freeze-crusting process. The freeze-crusting process preferably comprises the steps of (a) continuously delivering food products through the freezing apparatus and (b) exposing the food products to cold circulating air within the freezing apparatus in a manner effective for freezing an outermost layer of the food product. The inventive crusting process is particularly well-suited for preparing food logs and other products for slicing.
Abstract:
According to various disclosed embodiments, a conductor is patterned in a dielectric. The conductor can be patterned, for example, in the shape of a square spiral. The conductor can comprise, for example, copper, aluminum, or copper-aluminum alloy. The dielectric can be, for example, silicon oxide or a low-k dielectric. A spin-on matrix containing high permeability particles is then deposited adjacent to the patterned conductor. The high permeability particles comprise material having a permeability substantially higher than the permeability of the dielectric. The high permeability particles can comprise, for example, nickel, iron, nickel-iron alloy, or magnetic oxide. As a result, an inductor having a high inductance value is achieved without lowering the quality factor of the inductor.
