Abstract:
An inkjet ink that provides improved print quality on diverse types of print media. The inkjet ink includes a first pigment dispersion and a second pigment dispersion in which the pigments are formulated to segregate when deposited on a glossy print medium. Each of the pigments in the first and second pigment dispersions may have at least one of a different particle size, a different particle morphology, and a different manner of dispersion. An inkjet ink that provides improved print quality on a print medium having chemically and physically distinct domains is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A filter for a display system is provided which includes a fluid chamber having a selectively moveable filtering fluid, plural electrodes being coupled with the fluid chamber to accommodate establishment of an electric field whereby the filtering fluid may be selectively positioned in an optical path.
Abstract:
A medicament dispenser that includes a medicament supply, an ejector, and a controller configured to actuate the ejector, where the controller is configured to use an operational parameter to produce a plurality of medicament drops having a target drop characteristic, and the operational parameter includes a correction factor that is based on a performance characteristic of the ejector.
Abstract:
A method of analyzing blood comprises delivering a blood sample to a test device, applying a spatially varying electric field to the blood sample to provide a depleted cell concentration in a portion of the blood sample, and sensing a property of the portion of the blood sample.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to anisotropic colorants and ink-jet ink compositions that include the anisotropic colorants. These anisotropic colorants are highly stable and can be designed to provide enhanced chroma, gloss, gloss uniformity, smearfastness, print quality, drytime, and improved resistance to water when applied to a media. Moreover, inks formulated with these new colorants are useful in ink-jet printing, including thermal ink jet printing, piezoelectric ink jet printing, and continuous ink jet printing.
Abstract:
A printing assistance apparatus for a media width printhead, the apparatus having: an elongate platen having a surface for supporting media across the media width during printing on the media by fluid ejection nozzles of the printhead; and a wick element positioned within the platen for wicking fluid ejected by the nozzles from the supporting surface, the wick element having an elongate body positioned within the platen and a plurality of pads projecting from the body along the longitudinal length body toward the printhead, the pads being separated by notches.
Abstract:
A restraining system is configured to secure and release a rider's footwear to a vehicle footrest in response to inputs to a control interface. The vehicle is typically a motorcycle or bicycle. In the case of a motorcycle, a rider's boot is restrained to a motorcycle foot peg by the action of a restraining device. Exemplary restraining device embodiments include an electromagnet or a mechanical latch. The control interface may be located on the motorcycle handlebar or on the rider's helmet. The rider can provide the inputs directly to the control interface. Alternatively, the inputs may be received from a wireless source.
Abstract:
A maintenance apparatus for a printhead, the apparatus having a first porous member for contacting the printhead to absorb fluid from the printhead; and a second porous member for contacting the first porous member to absorb fluid from the first porous member.
Abstract:
A system for shaping media for printing by a media width printhead is provided having a media width printhead of fluid ejection nozzles defining a media width print zone, input rollers disposed for transporting media into the print zone at an angle to a plane parallel with the print zone, output rollers for transporting media out of the print zone at an angle to a plane parallel with the print zone, and an elongate platen for supporting and shaping the media as the media is transported through the print zone. The platen has a series of ribs disposed upstream of the print zone and a series of ribs disposed downstream of the print zone. The ribs are configured so that the transported media adopts a constrained curved path past the nozzles through contact with the ribs in the print zone.
Abstract:
A method of wiping a printhead, the method having: controlling a lift mechanism to lift a wiper module from a supporting sled to position a porous material of the wiper module against the printhead; controlling a rotation mechanism to rotate a shaft of the wiper module about which the porous material is provided so that the porous material rotates against the printhead, the porous material being configured to absorb fluid from the printhead during the rotation; and controlling a sliding mechanism to slide the sled relative to the printhead so that the rotating porous material is wiped across the printhead.
