Abstract: Systems, catheters, and methods for accessing and treating along the central nervous system are disclosed. An example method may control operation of a pump of pump/filtration system to facilitate removing cerebrospinal fluid from a patient, filtering the cerebrospinal fluid with a filter module to remove waste product, and returning the filtered cerebrospinal fluid to the patient. Operation of the pump may be adjusted based on a value related to a measure sensed by a sensor in communication with a lumen carrying cerebrospinal fluid through the filtration system.

Abstract: In a method for intermittently occluding the coronary sinus, in which the coronary sinus is occluded using an occlusion device, the fluid pressure in the occluded coronary sinus is continuously measured and stored, the fluid pressure curve is determined as a function of time, and the occlusion of the coronary sinus is triggered and/or released as a function of at least one characteristic value derived from the measured pressure values. The pressure increase and/or pressure decrease per time unit each occurring at a heart beat are used as characteristic values.

Abstract: Materials and methods related to blood pump systems are described. These can be used in patients to, for example, monitor arterial pressure, measure blood flow, maintain left ventricular pressure within a particular range, avoid left ventricular collapse, prevent fusion of the aortic valve in a subject having a blood pump, and provide a means to wean a patient from a blood pump.

Abstract: A system for modulating delivery of a fluid medium to a selected site within a patient's body includes a syringe for injecting the fluid medium, a delivery catheter including a conduit for delivering the fluid medium from outside of the body to the selected site within the body, and a flow diverter assembly disposed in a fluid medium flow path between the syringe and the delivery catheter. The syringe includes a chamber for receiving the fluid medium therein. The flow diverter assembly is configured to simultaneously divert at least some of the fluid medium within the chamber of the syringe away from the delivery of the medium through the delivery catheter conduit during injecting with the syringe, and wherein the flow diverter assembly creates increasing medium fluid flow resistance with increasing pressure level of the fluid medium within the flow diverter assembly. A method for modulating fluid delivery to a selected site within a patient's body is also disclosed.
