    Abstract: A prosthetic heart valve comprises a radially expandable frame comprising an outflow end and an inflow end, and a plurality of valve leaflets disposed within and coupled to the frame. Each leaflet comprises a main body having an outflow edge portion and an inflow edge portion, wherein the leaflets are configured to move between an open state and a closed state in which the outflow edge portions coapt with each other and block the flow of blood through the frame from the outlet end to the inlet end, wherein the inflow edge portion of each leaflet includes a movable portion that can move radially inwardly when the leaflets move to the closed state to assist with the coaptation of the outflow edge portions of the leaflets and radially outwardly when the leaflets move to the open state.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve includes an annular frame and a valvular structure mounted within the annular frame. The valvular structure comprises a plurality of leaflets defining a plurality of commissures coupled to the annular frame. Each leaflet includes a leaflet free edge that is offset in a downstream direction from the commissures by side edges that are not attached to the frame. A material portion of the leaflet disposed between the side edges contributes a material slack that extends a radial reach of the leaflet free edge for coaptation. The prosthetic valve can be releasably coupled to a delivery device to form a delivery apparatus. The prosthetic valve can be delivered to a selected implantation site by the delivery apparatus and released at the implantation site by a handle of the delivery device.

    Abstract: Embodiments of a radially collapsible and expandable prosthetic heart valve are disclosed. A valve frame can have a tapered profile when mounted on a delivery shaft, with an inflow end portion having a smaller diameter than an outflow end portion. The valve can comprise generally V-shaped leaflets, reducing material within the inflow end of the frame. An outer skirt can be secured to the outside of the inflow end portion of the frame, the outer skirt having longitudinal slack when the valve is expanded and lying flat against the frame when the valve is collapsed. A diagonally woven inner skirt can elongate axially with the frame. Side tabs of adjacent leaflets can extend through and be secured to window frame portions of the frame to form commissures. The window frame portions can be depressed radially inward relative to surrounding frame portions when the valve is crimped onto a delivery shaft.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve assembly includes a prosthetic valve and an anchoring frame. The prosthetic valve includes a valve frame and a valve structure. The valve frame includes a plurality of struts and is expandable from a compressed configuration to an expanded configuration. The valvular structure includes leaflets. The valvular structure is disposed radially within and is coupled to the valve frame. The valvular structure is configured to allow blood flow through the prosthetic valve assembly in a first direction and to restrict blood flow through the prosthetic valve assembly in a second direction. The anchoring frame includes a plurality of struts. The anchoring frame is disposed radially outwardly from and is coupled to the valve frame. The struts of the anchoring frame comprise one or more tissue-engaging elements configured for contacting native tissue to help secure the prosthetic valve assembly at an implantation location.

    Abstract: A method of implanting a prosthetic heart valve within a patient can comprise inserting a distal end portion of a delivery apparatus and a prosthetic heart valve into the patient and advancing the prosthetic heart valve to a deployment location within the heart of the patient and inflating one or more of a plurality of differently-sized balloons in a balloon-assembly on the distal end portion of the delivery apparatus. The prosthetic heart valve can be mounted on the balloon assembly in a crimped state and the inflating of the one or more of the plurality of differently-sized balloons can expand the prosthetic heart valve from the crimped state to a radially expanded state having a non-cylindrical shape.

    Abstract: This disclosure is directed to prosthetic heart valves and actuation assemblies for prosthetic heart valves having actuators extending through actuation brackets secured to a prosthetic heart valve frame. In some examples, each actuator extends through and is pivotable relative to two actuation brackets secured to the inner surface of the prosthetic heart valve frame. In other examples, each actuator extends through and is pivotable relative to a vertically extending post of the frame. In this way, the actuators may move angularly relative to the longitudinal axis of the frame during the radial expansion and compression of the prosthetic heart valve. This may prevent bending and buckling of the actuators during the deployment of the prosthetic heart valve.

    Abstract: An implantable prosthetic valve including a plurality of leaflets and an annular frame that is radially expandable from a radially compressed state to a radially expanded state. The prosthetic valve also includes a skirt assembly comprising a reinforcing layer sandwiched between a first encapsulating layer and a second encapsulating layer, which are made of a thin elastomeric material. The reinforcing layer comprises a first set of yarns and a second set of yarns interwoven in a leno weave pattern, wherein the first and second sets of yarns are non-perpendicular and non-parallel to a longitudinal axis of the frame when the valve is in the radially expanded state. The first encapsulating layer and the second encapsulating layer can be fused or bonded along specified regions and form one or more pockets that enable free movement of sections of the reinforcing layer disposed therein.

    Abstract: A prosthetic valve includes a frame having a first frame portion and a first window formed in the first frame portion. A threaded rod is coupled to the first frame portion and extends through the first window. Rotation of the threaded rod relative to the first frame portion radially expands or radially compresses the frame. A stopper is disposed within the first window and coupled to the threaded rod. The stopper is fixed in axial position relative to the threaded rod and axially movable within the first window by rotation of the threaded rod. The stopper can engage a first edge of the window to produce radial compression of the frame.

    Abstract: This disclosure is directed to prosthetic heart valves having frames with features configured to increase the flexibility of certain frame components and/or to allow the frame to maintain an at least substantially cylindrical shape during deployment. In one example, a frame for an implantable device can include a first end, a second end, a plurality of angled struts, and a plurality of vertical struts. One or more vertical struts of the plurality of vertical struts includes a fixed end portion connected to a vertical strut junction, a free end portion, and a plurality of apertures disposed between the fixed end portion and the free end portion and configured to increase the flexibility of the one or more vertical struts. In some examples, one or more vertical struts of the plurality of vertical struts comprises an axially compressible aperture configured to enable the axial compression of the strut.
