Abstract: An infrastructure-supported perception system for connected vehicle applications includes one or more infrastructure perception sensors that capture perception data having a reduced resolution and a reduced frame rate. The reduced resolution includes a reduced number of pixels for a given frame when compared to a standard resolution and the reduced frame rate captures data at a lower rate when compared to a standard frame rate. The infrastructure-supported perception system includes one or more controllers that are part of a connected vehicle. The controllers of the connected vehicle are in wireless communication with the one or more infrastructure perception sensors and one or more servers, and the one or more servers are in wireless communication with the one or more infrastructure perception sensors. The controllers receive dynamic information regarding one or more detected objects in an environment surrounding the connected vehicle from the one or more servers.

Abstract: Systems and method are provided for notifying an operator of a vehicle of reverse operation of a vehicle. In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving, by a processor, at least one of sensor data and vehicle message data, wherein the sensor data is generated by a sensor of an infrastructure system, and wherein the vehicle message data is generated by a remote vehicle; determining, by the processor, a reverse operation of the remote vehicle based on the at least one of the sensor data and the vehicle message data; and generating, by the processor, notification data based on the reverse operation of the remote vehicle.

Abstract: A supplier network device is provided and includes a supplier processor and memory that stores a credential package including information for a chip or a vehicle control module (VCM). The supplier processor: receives ID and signature public keys from the chip, where the ID and signature public keys correspond respectively to private keys stored in the chip; transmit the ID and signature public keys to a certificate authority processor of a vehicle manufacturer data center; and receive the credential package including signing certificates from the certificate authority processor prior to assembling the VCM. The supplier processor: reads the ID public key from the VCM subsequent to incorporating the chip in the VCM; identifies the credential package based on the ID public key; and based on the identifying of the credential package, programs the VCM with the signing certificates prior to installation of the vehicle control module in a vehicle.

Abstract: A system and method of wirelessly communicating data originating at a central facility between a plurality of vehicles using vehicle-to-vehicle short-range wireless communications includes wirelessly receiving, at a seed vehicle, one or more data files that have been encoded into data chunks from a central facility; storing the data chunks included in the received data file(s) at the vehicle; receiving interest messages for the data file(s) at the seed vehicle from each of a plurality of other vehicles via a short-range wireless broadcast, wherein the interest messages include one or more data file names and, for each data file name, the identity of the data chunks requested; identifying data files and data chunks existing in more than one received interest message; and transmitting the data chunks to the plurality of vehicles via the short-range wireless broadcast.

Abstract: A system and method to control headlights of a vehicle includes receiving a broadcast that indicates a location of a sending device of the broadcast. The method also includes obtaining other information that indicates at least one of a weather condition or an ambient lighting condition, and analyzing the broadcast and the other information to determine whether the headlights should be enabled or whether high beams of the headlights should be enabled. The method further includes generating a signal to control the headlights according to the analysis.
