The measured signal strength at each step may be compared to a threshold, and a status may be stored, which may depend on the presence of a measured signal strength above threshold. The detection frequency may be swept utilizing a voltage controlled oscillator, which may be tuned via a control voltage and/or calibration capacitors. Steps may be skipped when a measured signal strength may be greater than the threshold, and may occur after multiple above threshold measurements. The steps may have variable frequency width, and the range may include the Bluetooth band from 2.40 GHz to 2.48 GHz. The frequency may be swept over a subset of the Bluetooth band, and may be swept on a periodic basis.

A method and system for digital spur cancellation may include removing a spur in a left channel minus right channel (L−R) baseband signal generated from a FM signal. The L−R baseband signal may be generated by demodulating a sub-carrier, for example, by using CORDIC algorithm, in a signal demodulated from the FM signal. An orthogonal signal may also be generated by demodulating a sub-carrier, for example, by using CORDIC algorithm, in a signal demodulated from the FM signal. The phase of the orthogonal signal may be further adjusted to introduce a substantially −90° phase shift to spurs at a specific frequency. Accordingly, the spurs in the L−R baseband signal may be cancelled when the first L−R baseband signal is combined with the phase adjusted orthogonal signal.

The recovered audio signals may comprise an FM multiplex signal, and an unused portion of the FM radio channel may be a guard band adjacent to a carrier of the FM multiplex signal. A level of one or both of a mono component and a stereo component of an FM multiplex signal may be controlled based on the SNR.
