摘要: An optical recording medium according to the present invention includes a base layer having an information signal portion formed on a surface on the side on which laser light is incident, and a light transmissive layer formed on the base layer. A thickness t of the light transmissive layer is within the range of t=3 to 177 .mu.m at least in an area of the information signal portion. If unevenness of the light transmissive layer is .DELTA.t, N.A. of an optical system for reproduction or recording and reproduction and a wavelength .lambda. satisfies .DELTA.t.ltoreq..+-.5.26 (.lambda./N.A..sup.4) (.mu.m). A track pitch is P and a skew is .THETA., then P.ltoreq.0.64 .mu.m and .THETA..ltoreq..+-.84.115.degree. (.lambda./N.A..sup.3 /t) are satisfied. The optical recording medium is recorded or reproduced by a recording and reproducing system satisfying .lambda..ltoreq.0.68 .mu.m and N.A./.lambda..gtoreq.1.20. The optical recording medium permits a recording capacity of 8 GB.

摘要: A region (21) having different magnetic energy from that of other portion is formed in a layer (1b) of soft magnetic material which has an easy axis of magnetization normal to the layer surface and is magnetized in one direction by applying an external bias magnetic field. By irradiating a light beam on the layer surface, a cylindrical magnetic domain b magnetized in the direction opposite to the magnetization direction is formed at a first stable position of the region (21). This cylindrical magnetic domain is moved to a second stable position by a second cylindrical magnetic domain c.multidot.b formed by the irradiation of light beam or by a temperature gradient whereby stable recording, reading thereof and accurate calculation function can be carried out.

摘要: A computer configured to selectively use prediction to compensate for a latency of an input device. The input device may be a touch screen. Processing of touch inputs may lead to a latency between the user performing a touch input and the touch screen display responding to the touch input. A touch screen component predicts a subsequent position of a touch contact point based on the sensed positions of the touch contact point. The component may be a software component that provides a predictive output that can be selectively used based on a characteristic of a touch input. The component may be generic such that it may be applied on multiple types of computers equipped with different types of touch sensing hardware configured with any suitable settings. The component's output may be used to control the touch screen display.

摘要: One or more techniques and/or systems are provided for utilizing input data received from an indirect interaction device (e.g., mouse, touchpad, etc.) as if the data was received from a direct interaction device (e.g., touchscreen). Interaction models are described for handling input data received from an indirect interaction device. For example, the interaction models may provide for the presentation of two or more targets (e.g., cursors) on a display when two or more contacts (e.g., fingers) are detected by indirect interaction device. Moreover, based upon a number of contacts detected and/or a pressured applied by respective contacts, the presented target(s) may be respectively transitioned between a hover visualization and an engage visualization. Targets in an engage visualization may manipulate a size of an object presented in a user interface, pan the object, drag the object, rotate the object, and/or otherwise engage the object, for example.

摘要: A remote automation system is described herein that allows application accessibility information to be used remotely and extended to allow custom UI elements to be automated. The remote automation system receives a request at a remote computer for automation data related to an application running on the remote computer. The remote automation system requests automation data from the application running on the remote computer and serializes the automation data for transmission to the client computer. The system transmits the serialized automation data to the client computer in response to the request. When the client computer receives the response, the system deserializes the automation data and provides the deserialized automation data to a local application on the client computer. Thus, the remote automation system allows users to view applications running on a remote system but run accessibility applications locally.

摘要: A method for outputting supplemental media streams with a main media stream is presented. The method monitors for triggering events and, upon detecting a triggering event, causes one or more supplemental media streams associated with the triggering event to output. The associated supplemental media streams may be output either synchronously or asynchronously with the main media stream. Synchronous supplemental media streams are output concurrently with the main media stream. Asynchronously output supplemental media streams suspend the main media stream while they are output and terminate any currently outputting supplemental media streams. A supplemental media stream may cause a conditional triggering event to trigger a second supplemental media stream to output synchronously with the first. A second main media stream with associated supplemental media streams may be output asynchronously as a compiled supplemental media stream in connection with a first main media stream.

摘要: A multilayer optical disk having an information storage layer which can as well as be reproduced by a general purpose reproducing apparatus, for example, a compact disk player, and from which information can be read from other information storage layers by using an exclusive reproducing apparatus. The method of manufacturing a multilayer disk comprises the steps of forming a first substrate having a first information storage area enabling reproduction of information therein with a first light beam having a wavelength of 770 nm to 830 nm; forming a second substrate having a second information storage area enabling reproduction of information therein with a second light beam having a wavelength of 615-655 nm but which is relatively transparent with respect to said first light beam; and bonding said first substrate to said second substrate together without said first and second said information areas facing each other.

摘要: A novel optical disc which, while having interchangeability with a conventional MD or MD data, has a capacity far exceeding the capacity of these optical discs, and an optical disc device. The optical disc and the optical disc device take into account the constraints of the skew accompanying the increased recording density. By setting the jitter produced when recording random pattern signals on one track only to not more than 8.4% and by setting jitter increase on recording signals also on both side neighboring tracks to not more than 4.9%, the skew margin in the radial direction of not less than ±0.7° and that in the running direction (circumferential direction) of not less than ±0.6° are assured.
