    摘要: A control for an internal combustion engine in which it is determined whether a request for a turbo flow mode is output and whether there is a possibility that a catalyst may be deactivated. More specifically, it is determined whether a catalyst gas temperature is above a predetermined value. The predetermined value is set in advance so that when the catalyst gas temperature is equal to or below the predetermined value, the catalyst is deactivated. When it is determined that there is a possibility that the catalyst may be deactivated if exhaust valves are placed in the turbo flow mode, a retard amount in an ignition timing retard correction is determined. An ignition timing is calculated. It is permitted to switch a valve opening mode to the turbo flow mode.

    摘要: The control device of the internal combustion engine appropriately controls plural exhaust valves to effectively perform sulfur poisoning recovery in an exhaust gas purifying catalyst. The control device controls the internal combustion engine which performs lean burn. The exhaust system of the internal combustion engine includes: first exhaust valves and second exhaust valves provided in each of the plural cylinders; a first exhaust passage communicating with the first exhaust valves; a second exhaust passage communicating with the second exhaust valves; a first exhaust gas purifying catalyst provided at least one of the first exhaust passage and the second exhaust passage; and a second exhaust gas purifying catalyst provided on an exhaust passage downstream of a junction of the first exhaust passage and the second exhaust passage. The control means controls the exhaust valves such that an effect of rich combustion occurs more to the second exhaust gas purifying catalyst than to the first exhaust gas purifying catalyst, when performing rich combustion. By this, the consumption of the exhaust gas in the first exhaust gas purifying catalyst can be suppressed, and the temperature of the second exhaust gas purifying catalyst can be effectively risen. Therefore, the sulfur poisoning recovery and the like can be effectively performed.

Exhaust gas amount reducing devices are provided which reduce the amount of exhaust gas that flows from the first exhaust pipe into the second exhaust pipe through the communicating pipe during execution of rich/lean burn control which performs combustion with an air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture that is richer than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio in one of the first cylinder and second cylinder and performs combustion with an air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture that is leaner than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio in the other cylinder.

    摘要: An onboard load control apparatus and a method for detecting a fault of an onboard electrical load with high accuracy are disclosed. The control apparatus comprises an onboard battery mounted on an automotive vehicle, an electrical heater for electrically heating an electrical load such as an electrically-heated catalyst supplied with power from the onboard battery, an auxiliary relay for turning on/off the power to the electrical heater from the onboard battery, and an ECU for controlling the on/off operation of the auxiliary relay. The apparatus further comprises an engine speed detector for detecting the engine speed of the internal combustion engine and a fault judgement unit for judging whether the electrical heater is normal or faulty on the basis of the fluctuation amount of the engine speed of the internal combustion engine detected by the engine speed detector before and after switching the auxiliary relay. A fault of the electrical load is judged by detecting the voltage across the onboard battery while taking the fluctuation amount of the same voltage into consideration. The apparatus further comprises a load condition holder for holding the load condition of a specific load while the engine speed or the battery voltage is detected.
